NVA's Speed of Light Ruhr

NVA brought Speed of Light to the Ruhr region in North-West Germany for an ultra version in October 2013. Previously staged as a centrepiece of the Edinburgh International Festival, then touring to Yokohama (Japan) and Salford (England), the night-time work uses light, intentional movement and sound to change the way we perceive a chosen environment. Over three nights, 6 iconic locations in the Emscher Landscape Park were brought to life through the choreographed movement of massed runners. Runners connected the whole Ruhr region, running up to 18k between performances each night. Sites included a man-made mountain, collieries, coking plants, steel works and the remarkable green corridors that interconnect some of the greatest industrial heritage in the world Stay in touch with NVA’s Speed of Light on Facebook (facebook.com/nvaspeedoflight) and Twitter (twitter.com/_NVA_).
