If you never thought you’d see a fish in a wheelchair, well… here you are. Also I met my friends pet viper and his own array of aquariums (which btw, I only filmed like half of them). It’s good to have pet friends who make me feel less crazy.

at 12:24 I put aquainted instead of acquainted.. because like…aqua…as in aquarium…….. jk that wasn’t why i just didn’t notice that the c wasn’t there. also somewhere in the video I put an apostrophe in the word “meant”. don’t ask why. i don’t know why.
ALSO i put nitrates should be “greater than” 20ppms, when I meant less than. Again. 5am editing. pls forgive.
Ammonia should be zero, nitrites should be less than 5 (I always say it should be zero no matter what but i’ve had people insist that 5ppms is ok… pls aim for zero) and nitrates should be LESS THAN 20ppms

My friend made a wheelchair for a goldfish that was surrendered to Aquarium Designs – a san antonio aquarium shop. The goldfish had an incurable swim bladder disorder and the only way to keep him from laying upside town at the bottom of the tank 24/7 was to construct a wheelchair for him! If you haven’t seen this story yet, just google “goldfish wheelchair” and you’ll be caught up. because apparently the world couldn’t handle it and my friend and his goldfish blew up everywhere. pls make sure to watch the whole video before commenting that swim bladder problems can be cured. we discuss all of this in the video. sometimes (especially in some of the fancy goldfish sadly) there just isn’t a cure. so the benefits of this “wheelchair” outweigh the risks. He now uses the restroom normally, eats normally, is beginning to regain “muscle” (slowly is able to swim for longer and longer periods of time with the wheelchair on) and he isn’t constantly stressed trying to keep himself up-right. The risks are this: his slime coat COULD become less than 100% perfect. But we haven’t seen that yet. With the original design of the wheelchair we noticed a little bit of that happening, so it was fixed by changing the design. 🙂
