Hearing The Revenant

The Revenant is the last film in my “Best Sound Editing Oscar Nominees 2016” supercut series. When compared to the other four films nominated, The Revenant excels at providing the most naturalistic and historical sounds due to the harsh environment and era. The natural sounds of wind, water, fire and earth are prominent throughout while loud gunfire and arrows striking across the screen introduces a more primitive and deadly world. Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for “fair use” for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.
