To extend Internet connectivity to remote areas, Project Loon needs to transmit a signal from Internet connection points on the ground, beam it across multiple balloons in the stratosphere, and then send that signal back down to users on the ground. In this video, Baris Erkmen, Project Loon’s Technical Lead, shows us how the team has created a platform that allows for consistent high-speed data transmission across balloons traveling 20 kilometers above the Earth’s surface.
