Death Of Farmer And 13 Cows Caused By Manure Fumes

On Tuesday Portage County Coroner Scott Rifleman said that 29-year-old Wisconsin farmer Michael Biadasz and more than a dozen cattle died after being overcome by fumes from a large manure holding tank. CBS affiliate WSAW reports that Biadasz’s body was found by farm workers arriving at Biadasz Farms early Monday to haul away manure from the football field-sized tank. Rifleman added that the farmer must have agitated the tank, and despite being outside, pressure in the atmosphere during the time of his death prevented the methane and sulfur oxide gasses from dissipating.
