Fuelled by a desire to push sonic boundaries and mix genres, astronomyy is an artist who’s equally influenced by In Utero and Rumours as he is The College Dropout and Confessions, taking a love of American hip hop and R&B and mixing it with the music of guitar bands like Locomotives, Fleet Foxes and Warm Ruffians. ‘Not Into U’ is a perfect example of the astronomyy blueprint – one where spacey surf guitar sounds meet a cavernous bottom end that kicks you in the chest.
Directed by Jovan Todorovic, the video depicts an unspoken intimacy between two lovers, a tense portrayal of the complications of young love and passion. All words substituted with the powerful soundtrack that plays throughout.
