Amazon Prime Video has shared a sneak peek into one of its awaited digital premieres, Gulabo Sitabo on its social media handles.

A slice-of-life dramedy, Gulabo Sitabo revolves around Mirza (Amitabh Bachchan) and Baankey (Ayushmann Khurrana ) – an uncommon duo who are like Tom and Jerry. They are unique and unmatched, friend and foe, naughty and smart, little and large, all things needed to create chaos!

Telugu OTT paltform, Aha Kids to stream ‘Chhota Bheem’, ‘Mighty Raju’ and others 22 May onwards

Streaming platform, Aha, Allu Aravind’s brainchild, is presently grabbing eyeballs of the Telugu audience. The only-Telugu VOD (video-on-demand) platform with a library of several movies and web shows, has now acquired rights for cartoon characters and animated content.

As per latest reports, Aha will stream 28 new Telugu cartoon series and films, including kids favourites Chhota Bheem, Mighty Raju and (dubbed  versions), 22 May onwards on the app and website under Aha Kids.

Initially, Aha’s cliched content failed to attract and retain audience attention. Hence, Aravind planned to come up with engaging content and bigger budgets. If reports are to be believed, Aravind is in talks with megastar Chiranjeevi for a big budget web series.

Vijay Deverakonda, who is the brand ambassador of Aha, will also produce a show for the streaming platform. Few noted directors are also working for Aha as consultants, and the team is featuring new content. As of now, there are almost six shows on Aha of which Kotha Poradu has received decent response. It is not an easy task to launch only-Telugu digital platform, as it involves a lot of marketing too.

The OTT fever prevalent in most parts of the country, is now rising in the Southern states. So much so that, besides Aravind, Chiranjeevi’s daughter, Sushmitha is also going to launch an OTT Platform very soon. She is now making all the arrangements for it and is in plans to produce a number of interesting web-based movies.

Pocket Aces’ new desi-animation channel, Jambo launches first web-series, ‘Namooney’

Pocket Aces, digital entertainment company has launched India’s first desi-animation comedy web-series, Namooney, under their desi-animation channel Jambo, from 16 May on YouTube. Namooney comprises of 20 episodes.

With the launch of the channel for young-adults and series, Pocket Aces has forayed into the business of animation dispelling the myth that animation is meant only for children. Jambo has already built a library of snackable animated videos which resonates with young adult audiences in the Hindi-belt across Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh.

Set in the fictional town of Bhandipur, Namooney portrays the relationship between two distinct personalities, Suresh (Sesh) and Neeraj, who happen to be hostel roommates at an engineering college, IIIT Bhandipur. While Sesh is a lazy, yet intelligent individual, Neeraj is a goody-two-shoes who is steadfast in his ways. They share the hostel room with a talking lizard, Ankit, who considers the room to be his family estate and is amused by Neeraj’s by-the-book approach to life. Hilarity ensues when Ankit provokes a bored Sesh to have fun at Neeraj’s expense. The series follows Neeraj as he comes to terms with living by himself for the first time while navigating the ups and downs of college-life, under the (mis)guidance of Sesh and Ankit.

Commenting about the channel and the series, Pocket Aces founder Ashwin Suresh said, “Desi-animation for the young adult market is grossly underserved. We believe the genre has incredible potential and is yet to be tapped in a meaningful manner. Staying true to our mission of solving boredom, we have launched Jambo to serve audiences in the Hindi-belt with their daily dose of animated comedy. With the upcoming launch of our first long-form IP, Namooney, we aim to rapidly grow our audience base, create a strong multi-season franchise, and develop a popular character universe.”

Jambo’s content is currently being distributed across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok. The channel aims to produce four animated web-series in 2020. Namooney episodes are available on YouTube.
