What is Beauty?

Punanimation Directory

Punanimation started as a Facebook group, aiming to bring the ladies, trans and non-binary people together. Although we were originally just 3, today our whole community is built by over 1700 people from all over the world, working within the many different fields and specializations of animation and motion graphics. This pushed us to work on the next, bigger step: putting together a directory that makes it easy for anyone to get a hold of that talent. No more excuses for male-only studios, speaker line-ups and director rosters. Diversity exists, it’s got skills and it’s here. 0:00 Daniela Uribe 0:02 Jocie Juritz 0:05 Nazli Cem 0:06 Emelie Andersson 0:09 Justyna Stasik 0:10 Catharine Pitt 0:12 Sabrina Chaney 0:14 Linn Fritz 0:15 Camille Vincent 0:17 Tuna Bora 0:18 Lisa Maria Rosa 0:20 Angelica Baini 0:21 Salla Lehmus 0:22 Helena Kampen 0:23 Alexandra Lund 0:24 Juliana Rabello 0:26 Karolin Gu 0:27 Line Hagsand 0:29 Wednesday Studio

The Deepest Dive in Antarctica Reveals a Sea Floor Teeming With Life

No one really knows what’s in the deep ocean in Antarctica. Now we have the technology to reach into the ocean depths, we accompanied scientist and deep-sea explorer Jon Copley and became the first to descend to 1000 meters underwater in Antarctica for Blue Planet II. The exotic creatures we found there will astonish you.

This video is a part of Our Blue Planet, a joint venture between Alucia Productions and BBC Earth to get people talking about the ocean. Join the conversation on Twitter: @OurBluePlanet.

To See or Not To See

In this short film, Czech filmmaker Bretislav Pojar amusingly reflects on our habit of looking before we leap. What he shows us is the little person inside each of us, the cautious character we all know, who acts to keep us out of trouble but also in a state of defeat. Is there a cure for this reluctance to face up to life in the raw? The film shows there is. With the Pojar charm at work, your worst fears suddenly look plain silly.

Directed by Bretislav Pojar – 1969 | 14 min

From sailors who were turned into pigs, nymphs that sprouted into trees, and a gaze that converted the beholder to stone, Greek mythology brims with shape-shifters. The powerful Gods usually changed their own forms at will – but for mortals, the mutations were often unwanted. Iseult Gillespie shares how one such unnerving transformation befell the spinner Arachne.
