Two and a Half Slashers

Check out this exclusive Darth Blender presentation: “Two And A Half Slashers”. It’s Halloween time!

There was a time when Freddy Krueger wasn’t angry about children and Michael Myers could talk! On this prequel, the two slashers decided to share a space with a genious boy named Chucky, which wasn’t exactly in the mood with the idea. You’ve never seen a sitcom so “killing funny” as this version!

This video uses excerpts from “A Nightmare On Elm Street”, “Halloween” and “Two And a Half Man” franchises.

Feel free to comment, criticize and suggest new mashup videos!

Graphic India’s ‘Baahubali: The Lost Legends’ chronicles the making of the legend of Baahubali

The epic historical fiction of Baahubali has gained a cult status ever since the first movie rolled out in 2015. S.S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus took the country by storm with its gripping tale and grandiose projections such that it became the norm itself. Eight months after the release of the concluding second installment, the legend of Baahubali continues to live on.

Graphic India, one of India’s leading comic publications, turned the whole saga into an animated series, but with a twist as the fans can now explore the events transpired before the Kalakeya invasion as depicted in the first movie.

In Baahubali: The Lost Legends, Baahubali and Bhallaladeva are still both young princes of Mahishmati.  The two brothers are competing to rule the greatest kingdom of its age and the epic adventures they must endure to prove they are worthy to inherit the crown.

Navin Miranda of Graphic India further explains why one must keep an eye on the show: “The animated series will feature new, never-before-revealed stories about the characters from the film including Prince Baahubali, Bhallaladeva, Kattapa and Sivagami as well as dozens of new characters that will expand the world of Baahubali and reveal hidden secrets for millions of fans. The series will follow the relationship between the two brothers as they journey across the kingdom of Mahishmati, uncovering hidden mysteries, stopping ancient terrors and defending their people from danger.”

“Fans of the film will also be very familiar with the characters and settings portrayed in the animated series, yet it’ll make for a unique viewing as it is in a era before which the film begins and really shows the seamless rise of the two princes into the characters that we see later on in the movies.”

Additionally, the young Baahubali of the series is a far cry from his heroic version of the movies as the crown prince of Mahishmati is only getting accustomed to the royal aristocracies and remains a warrior in the making. “He is still struggling with many of the challenges that arise as he also faces the conflicts between his ‘dharma and justice’. Sometimes following one’s dharma and upholding the law may conflict with what may feel morally right, and the young Baahubali will face many of these internal turmoils that eventually shape him into the great hero we all witnessed in the movies,” he added.

Stretched across 13 episodes in the first season, The Lost Legends is co-written by Graphic India EVP creative Jeevan Kang and Graphic India’s senior writer Ashwin Pande, whilst executive produced by S.S Rajamouli, Shobu Yarlagadda, Prasad Devineni, Jeevan and Ashwin.

The whole idea of an animation series sprung after realising the potential in director Rajamouli’s vision of the epic fantasy, with possibilities of animated shows, comics and other transmedia storytelling mediums to project the story. “We shared the same passion for world-building and what they had achieved with Baahubali was one of the most ambitious and inspiring projects to have come out of India — very much the same type of mission we are on at Graphic India to spark a creative renaissance in this country across new genres and stories.”

Baahubali director S.S Rajamouli

For all the success of the show too, Rajamouli had to have an instrumental role in it, for the creator of the whole franchise was actively involved shaping a drama for the smaller screen too, and just as fascinating. Right from script building to character designing; from the animated series to even comics, the film-maker made tremendous contributions in materialising the project. “Rajamouli played a significant role in helping us craft the stories which expand upon the world he created. He was a mentor to all the people working on these projects and it was a valuable learning experience for all of us as well.”

So is the show the one to carry the legacy of Baahubali forward? “The film captured hearts all over and of people of all age groups, from eight to 80, and regardless of the region. Baahubali: The Lost Legends is targeting the same wide spectrum of audience. Adventure, action, intrigue, betrayal, war, romance, bravery and heroism will be at the heart of the series, delivering the same feeling to the audience that they loved in the movie.”

“Through comics and animation, millions of fans will finally be able to experience secret stories and hidden legends about the world and characters from Baahubali.”

‘Jurassic World: Lost Kingdom’ trailer – The deadly dinosaurs are back for a fifth bite!

World’s deadliest creatures are back to run amok and inflict terror on the human race as Jurassic World returns with its second instalment next year, but teases yet another deadly onslaught by the blood-thirsty dinosaurs.

Starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and Jeff Goldblum, the official trailer of the latest Jurassic flick Fallen Kingdom has Pratt running for his life as an avalanche of creatures scythe through the smoky bushes with a volcano about to erupt. Bryce and his accomplice could be seen being rescued by him, as they seek refuge before what seems like a futuristic space shuttle.

The trailer is brought to an abrupt end there, as the full fledged clip is set to apparently roll out on Thursday.

A Universal Pictures distribution, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is directed by J. A. Bayona and scheduled to unleash its barbarity on 22 June 2018 onwards.

‘The Hunted’ and ‘Mina-Anud’ emerge top winners at SAFF Project Market

ScreenSingapore, together with Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA) and Ties That Bind (TTB), Asia/Europe producers workshop, today announced two projects from Indonesia and the Philippines as winners of the third Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Project Market. The Hunted took home the Aurora Producing award, RED Digital Camera award as well as The Yellow Box Soundscape award, while Mina-Anud won the Basecamp colour prize.

With three successful runs under its belt, the SAFF Project Market aims to match promising feature-length projects with Southeast Asian elements, with a global network of media financiers, distributors and collaborators, who can bring these projects to fruition. By facilitating interaction between producers and key players in the film industry, the initiative strives to grow the standards of filmmaking in the region.

This year, the SAFF Project Market 2017 received submissions from 16 countries, with the 15 finalists representing Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Mauritius, Myanmar, Singapore, The Philippines as well as Thailand. These covered a myriad of genres such as animation, drama, fantasy, thriller and dark comedy.

Amongst the shortlist, five projects – of which one won – hailed from Indonesia, which is the Singapore Media Festival’s Country of Focus.

The Hunted centres on four girls pitting their wits to survive after waking up from a rave party in Bali, when they find themselves stranded on an island, and pursued by two hunters who have paid big money for the ultimate hunting trophy – human beings.

It stood out from its competitors due to its potential to be commercialised and co-produced across Southeast Asia and beyond, and also for its technical excellence. For this project, producers Allen Jordan and Delon Tio will receive a $20,000 co-production investment from Aurora Media Holdings; a loan of a RED SCARLET-W camera kit worth $25,000 from RED Digital Cinema; as well as a $20,000 post-production prize from one of Southeast Asia’s top music and audio houses, Yellow Box Studios.

Co-producer and director Delon Tio shared, “We feel flattered to win three awards and believe they will help greatly in elevating The Hunted to the next level in various ways. Through our participation in the SAFF Project Market, we were able to gain greater exposure for our film and raise more funds. Additionally, the SAFF Project Market is a great platform for us to connect and meet potential investors and partners outside of Indonesia, and there are plans for us to return next year with new ideas.”

Separately, Mina-Anud won the Basecamp Colour Prize from Base Camp Films. The $10,000 award is for feature film colour grading, to ready a film for screening for festivals or at the cinema. Mina-Anud tells the story of two local surfers who must decide if the lure of a richer tomorrow is worth risking family and freedom when three tonnes of cocaine gets washed up on the shores of a peaceful seaside community in Eastern Samar, Philippines.

Sharing his aspirations for this film, director Kerwin Go said, “This film hopes to remind audiences that true wealth is the freedom to live life on our own terms. It’s about experiences and our relationships, rather than monetary and material wealth.”

Working with him on these films as producers will be Bianca Balbuena and Bradley Liew. Of the win, Liew said, “This is the first feature film project of a director who spent eight years in the industry, dreaming to one day make a film. And this win is a great encouragement for dreamers and artists to go on and face the big players armed with only their stories and passion.”
