Fox release first six minutes of upcoming show ‘The Gifted’

A new generation of mutants are coming this next week to bowl you over with a whole new set of superpowers to witness, as The Gifted conjures its TV debut.

However, as we move ever closer to its much anticipated premiere, Fox have burgeoned the excitement with the release of the first six-minute from the show’s first episode!

Directed by four-time X-Men director Bryan Singer, the opening sequence of the series involves cops supposedly chasing a mutant under the dark, muni-muning clouds.

Upon reaching the deadend, the mutant conjures up a blackhole using legerdemains before disappearing into it, thereby leaving the trailing cops completely perplexed. The focus then shifts to a pack of likewise mutants who sense the ensued hoodlum and track down the girl.

However, the shoe is soon on the other foot as the group gets surrounded by cops at their hideout. What follows next is a deadly face-off with the mutants exercising their supernatural power to throw the kitchen sink at them.

Although the central characters, the Strucker family, aren’t shown just yet, the urgency of the clip grabs you by the scruff. And it also indicates a dark, brutal plotline of the series.

Produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television and Marvel Television, The Gifted premieres on Fox on Monday, 2 October 2017.

Framestore unveils the magic behind ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ with VFX breakdown reel

In what was one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 enthralled the fans with the visual spectacle it treated them with.

The movie went quick off the blocks as it began with a rollicking face-off between the protagonists and a gigantic octopus-esque creature on an outer space hinterland that was also invaded by a fleet of drones.

The nerve-jangling experience in the opening sequence just sets the tone for the rest of the film, for it hardly recedes into the abyss of mediocrity through the course. And the spellbinding visual effects have a big role to play.

British VFX-house Framestore are the brains and brawns behind it, delivering a kind of effects that’s second to none.

Now, it’s time to witness what went into making as the studios have released a VFX breakdown reel of the movie that reveals the secrets behind some of the most picturesque scenes from the movie.

The opening battle, the exhilarating space chases, the humongous spaceships, the anthropomorphising of Baby Groot and Rocket Rackoon and much, much more to look forward to in the video.

Without any further ado, hit the start button and let the behind-the-scenes magic unravel!

Gravity Cat out of the Box

Gravity Cat, the commercial for Playstation 4 game Gravity Rush 2 (known in Japan as Gravity Daze 2), has won a Grand Prix award at Spikes Asia. The commercial, commissioned by Sony Interactive Entertainment, was designed as a cat video demonstrating new laws of gravity outdoing Newton’s law of gravity. Although the game is animated, the Gravity Cat commercial is made as live action film in which two sisters and their cat run freely across the walls and ceiling of their unit, before being released to free fly through the sky. The commercial begins with a university student struggling with her thesis on laws of gravity. At the end she’s released to live outside of the box. The cat appears in the video in recognition of the sidekick cat character in the Playstation game. And, of course, cat videos are eminently shareable.

The production team explain that they tackled challenging visual expressions, including one-cut takes, POV filming, animal takes, and gravity changes. “We made it as realistic as possible to get viewers questioning/wondering how it was made, and to give it the wow factor.” See the making-of video below.

Gravity Rush, known in Japan as Gravity Daze [a], is an action-adventure video game developed by SCE Japan Studio and Project Siren, and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation Vita.[6] Directed by Keiichiro Toyama, the core mechanics of the game is the player’s ability to manipulate gravity, allowing unique movements and navigation.[7] The graphics are cel-shaded, which in Toyama’s opinion stand out from the western photorealistic trend.[8] A sequel titled Gravity Rush 2 was announced on Sony’s TGS 2015 press conference and was released in the United States on January 20, 2017 for the PlayStation 4.
