One Run with Bobby Brown

For his entire life, Bobby Brown has called Breckenridge his home mountain. He’s logged countless runs through the famous terrain parks of Freeway and Park Lane, where he’s developed one the most highly regarded styles within the ski industry today, bringing him several X Games medals and a trip to the Sochi Winter Olympics. With the help of Under Armour, Bobby and Michael Clarke came together to capture a top-to-bottom run at the mountain where it all began for him, Breckenridge.

Fibonacci Zoetrope Sculptures

These are 3-D printed sculptures designed to animate when spun under a strobe light. The placement of the appendages is determined by the same method nature uses in pinecones and sunflowers. The rotation speed is synchronized to the strobe so that one flash occurs every time the sculpture turns 137.5º—the golden angle. If you count the number of spirals on any of these sculptures you will find that they are always Fibonacci numbers. For this video, rather than using a strobe, the camera was set to a very short shutter speed (1/4000 sec) in order to freeze the spinning sculpture. John Edmark is an inventor/designer/artist. He teaches design at Stanford University. Le Coq Sportif Smile It's 2015 - Couple

“I wish you the imagination to picture your future, and the conviction to bring it to life. I wish you a heart big enough to love beyond your wildest dreams, and the strength to forgive and to forget. I wish you the joy of unbridled passion and moments of peace. I wish you the calm of the dawn and the energy to live like there’s no tomorrow. I wish you the wisdom to recognise and respect difference because kindness and compassion cannot be seen in an instant. I wish you the motivation to move away from lazy temptations like apathy, violence, hatred, and to be constant in your pursuit of adventure, life, love, and new horizons. I wish you the courage to pick yourself up and rise to the challenge of each new day. But most of all I wish you to be yourself, confident and happy, because your happiness will light the world.”

Virgin Atlantic Let It Fly with The Idea

Virgin Atlantic is marking the beginning of 2015 with “The Idea”, a commercial featuring a passenger on his way to pitch his idea. Set to Depeche Mode’s ‘Personal Jesus’ the film is intended to capture the spirit and vision of Virgin Atlantic as the airline for people who share a similar mindset and want to make their ideas happen, whatever those ideas are. The campaign includes print, digital, out of home and social media showcasing the iconic destinations that Virgin Atlantic flies to and the experiences available in each. This is complemented by a digital platform where customers are encouraged to “Let It Fly”. As they pack their virtual suitcase a bespoke itinerary will be generated for their ideal destination.

“This campaign is a real step change in how we express ourselves creatively. We’ll always be a challenger brand but for this campaign, instead of challenging the competition, we are challenging ourselves and the customer to “Let it Fly”.

Tammy Einav, Managing Director, adam&eveDDB commented, “‘Let it Fly’ captures the pioneering spirit and entrepreneurial essence of Virgin Atlantic perfectly and positions them as a customer centric airline focused on providing unique experiences.”

DIS CONNECT

A search for higher meaning, dissatisfaction with the status quo and a sense that you’re the first person to feel this way. You’re not. A semi-satirical coming of age story told by handmade wooden puppets. The Making Of: vimeo.com/116057701

The Making of DIS CONNECT

See the film here: vimeo.com/doughindson/disconnect ‘DIS CONNECT’ is Doug Hindson’s graduation film from the Illustration & Animation course at Kingston University, London. All models and sets were made from wood & card by hand, hundreds of individual pieces were designed, cut, sanded, glued and painted. Rather than stop-motion, the film was shot live-action with strings and rods controlling the puppets and everything was captured in-camera. The production process took around 12 weeks from conception to completion. Music : Shigeto – Huron River Drive
