CES 2012: Aerial True 3D Holo Projector Display

Burton Inc. had an interesting display on 3D projectors. Rather than simply using a screen that had artificial depth to it, they used a single green laser to project onto a blast of ozone within a sealed container. Because the laser was rotating so rapidly, it was quickly burning out from the use, but looked much better earlier in the week.

Moment Abroad

These timelapse shots were taken while I was exploring the areas around Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic back in late September. Really enjoyed my time there and it was interesting visiting places that have been around for so long and seen so much history. Was shot using a Canon 5D Mark III and a bunch of Canon and Ziess lenses. Motion control gear was a Dynamic Perception Stage R Pan/Tilt head being controlled by a eMotimo controller in a 3D printed box. The 100 Opening Titles

Here at Royale we’re suckers for sci-fi; pulsars, quasars, Barbarella, you name it. Jay can’t get enough of Buck Rogers in the 25th or any other Century. So when the creators of The CW’s post-apocalyptic show “The 100” approached us to help craft a title sequence that expands on the already vast landscape created for the sci-fi drama, we jumped at the opportunity quick as a Flash (Gordon). We worked closely with The 100 show creators to develop an intro that harkens back to a more traditional prologue that both sets the stage for the show’s complex narrative and reveals a unique perspectives on show locations and characters. We wanted to expand on the show and give viewers a reason to pay close attention to the titles. There is narrative information in each and every shot that is built upon real story elements. These small bits of story give die-hard fans and casual viewers alike a sense of a much larger world yet to be fully explored. Everything from the locations to the telemetric data being displayed is pulled straight from the show’s cannon. Each shot was built around a location that echoed that from the show. Every shot has unique CG elements placed within. Crashed space stations, buried bridges, and broken monuments dot the post apocalyptic landscape and give hints to narrative events that take place within the show. Through a mix of live action plates, CG elements and motion graphics, we provided a unique perspective on the world. Taking this even further, the first and last shot of the sequence will change for each and every episode. A bespoke approach to a show’s title sequence is exactly how we think it should be done.
