Dark Skies

We have always been fascinated by the stars, the sensation of peace and infinite that we feel looking for hours the “dark skies” upon our heads. This kind of experience requires certain condition to be enjoyed in it best. The amount of lights in the city and in the nearest suburbs is the biggest obstacle between us and the firmament. If in Europe you have difficulty finding a place with low light pollution in Australia is sufficient to drive a few hours to enjoy the night sky in its most brighter majesty. June 2013 – My friend David arrived from Italy in Brisbane to spend two weeks with me travelling around South East Queensland. During this period we had the chance to enjoy togheter for the first time Australian’s dark skies. Glass House Mountains, Maleny, Toowoomba… In one of those trips I remember a chat in a service station dreaming about other trips, projects and video… January 2014 – We arrived again in Australia to stay until August. Almost a year later we had the same discussion of staione service, about travel …timelapse… video. We built a small project and contacted the people who could help us. Procam-hire and Jucy Rentals responded to our call giving us the best equipment we could wish for and a vehicle appropriate for the occasion … We traveled over and over again during the span of the experience in Australia, accompanied by friends, swimwear, tripods and lenses until it it was time to go home in Italy. This timelapse showcase aim to be also a celebration of our dreams, our experience… Everything is possible if you just want to do anything is necessary to achieve your dream. I would like to thanks once again our sponsors Jucy (www.jucy.co.nz) and Procam (hire.pro-cam.com.au) for their precious help. A huge thanks goes also to all the people that supported our project, the brothers and sisters we met in the sharehouse were we lived for 8 months, surrounded by beautiful people from alla round the world. Music is (Stars Beyond Stars Vindata Remix) performed by Just A Gent This timelapse has been selected during the “Timelapse Showfest 2014” and has been projected on a 300sm screen in Madrid. Forgotten Spaces: Wyoming's Red Desert

For more information visit: www.wildwyo.org www.facebook.com/WyomingWilderness?ref=aymt_homepage_panel https://vimeo.com/111562170 Forgotten Spaces: Wyoming’s Red Desert showcases special wild landscapes in Wyoming’s Red Desert including but not limited to, the Honeycomb Buttes WSA, Oregon Buttes WSA, Whitehorse Creek WSA, Sand Dunes WSA, and Harris Slough. This is only a small sampling of the scenic values contained in the Red Desert. The landscapes within this vast expanse of southwest Wyoming are comparable to national parks in other states. While you view the spectacular Red Desert please keep in mind that the Red Desert currently has no long term legal protection that will adequately protect its values from thoughtless oil and gas development. Wyoming Wilderness Association (WWA) is working to change this. Our work is motivated by the values of the Red Desert and our supporters that make our work possible. Please support our work to protect these values and donate. A sampling of the Red Desert values your donation will help protect include: -The ancient Lake Gosiute formerly covered much of Southwest Wyoming including the Red Desert. Consequently, the observant explorer may discover shells of ancient turtles or even fossilized alligator bones, testaments to the rich ecological history of the area. -Red Desert travelers can visit the remnants of South Pass Stage Road, a passage carved in the sand by westward bound settlers on the Oregon Trail. -Wyoming’s last remaining desert elk herd and the largest desert elk herd in the lower 48 is found in the Red Desert. – The largest pronghorn herd in the lower 48 can be found in the Red Desert. -The northern Red Desert is home to nine Wilderness Study Areas which feature untouched badlands, hoodoos, vast expanses of a pristine sagebrush ecosystem, dune fields, and rock outcrops -The largest migratory sand dune formation in North America is found in the Red Desert. -The only other comparable example of a pristine sagebrush steppe ecosystem is found in Mongolia. The sagebrush steppe ecosystem is one of the most endangered in the world. -The Red Desert contains the largest un-fenced expanse found in the lower 48.
