Following the official theme we conceived the Rogue Trooper universe – Remembrance Day and our vision of it. From the storyboard to the final cut we worked during more than twenty nights in our freetime to bring our ideas to life. We had a blast working on it. We hope you will enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed creating it. Artists At Mana: Carole Feuerman
Posted in: Animation
Carole Feuerman is recognized as one of the world’s most renowned, influential, and popular hyperrealist sculptors. Her prolific career spans four decades in which she has pioneered new approaches to sculpture. Working in both monumental and life size, she is the only figurative artist to hyperrealistically paint bronze for use in outdoor public art, and the only sculptor to install these sculptures in the water. RE:Vision Effects, acclaimed effects plug-in industry leader and makers of Academy Award winning software, announces the release of RE:Flex™ version 5 with GPU support for Adobe® After Effects®.
RE:Flex provides superior morphing and warping for After Effects. RE:Flex uses both open and closed splines for its free-form interface rather than a mesh-based solution. RE:Flex is especially easy to learn because it uses After Effects’ own drawing and masking tools to direct the warping and morphing; as such, there is no need to learn a whole new user interface.
RE:Flex is the first morphing solution that combines hand feature-matching with automatic image registration. After aligning the hand matched shapes, RE:Flex uses the tracking found in Twixtor® to automatically align the non-handmatched parts of the image; so in many cases less handwork is required.
Speedups up to 3x on GPUs when using RE:Flex have been measured over running RE:Flex in CPU mode, already known for its speed. Speedups of this magnitude are usually seen with higher end cards. Note that most currently-sold GPUs will provide customers with needed acceleration, including many mobile GPUs for laptops. Of course, the total speedup end-users will see will vary once application overhead is taken into account: this includes disk I/O, internal host buffering schemes, bandwidth of PCIe bus, codec used for footage, etc.
Availability and compatibility:
Adobe After Effects CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC and CC (2014).
System Requirements:
- For GPU support, the GPU driver must support OpenCL 1.1. We recommend the latest drivers available.
- For Windows: Windows 7 or 8, 64-bit. Windows Vista support for CPU-only mode.
- For Macintosh. Mac OS 10.7 or 10.8 needed for GPU support, Mac OS 10.6 still supported for CPU mode. It is highly recommended that when on Macintosh to use Mac OS 10.8 or 10.9 for the GPU mode of RE:Flex because the GPU drivers are more robust and run up to 30% faster than those of Mac OS 10.7. Macintosh OS 10.9 (Mavericks) is needed for Intel HD Graphics GPU support.
- More detailed GPU info found at http://revisionfx.com/support/faqs/generalfaqs/gpu-info/
Pricing:
- RE:Flex is priced at $595.00. Upgrade and lower-priced render farm pricing can be found here: http://www.revisionfx.com/products/reflex/pricing/#after_effects
- RE:Flex is also part of our Effections Plus bundle which includes all of our After Effects plug-ins. Priced at $1199.95, which saves you over $1500 over buying each product individually. See Effections Plus ordering page.
- Volume discounts and floating licenses also available.

Fabric Software to reveal visual programming and Splice for 3ds Max at SIGGRAPH
Posted in: AnimationWed 23rd Jul 2014 | News
Fabric Software, the company behind Fabric Engine, the development framework for high performance visual effects tools, has announced two major developments – visual programming and Splice for 3ds Max. Both features will be previewed at a SIGGRAPH user group on Tuesday, August 12, along with zero-cost GPU acceleration, released last month.
Visual Programming
Visual programming, coming in Fabric Engine 2.0, to be released later this year, will enable TDs to learn and use Fabric Engine even more easily because the code is represented as graphical elements that can be manipulated in a visually interactive way. FE 2.0 will build on the GPU compute capabilities released last month that allows for the same code to be executed on both the CPU and GPU, without the need for additional coding.
Splice API for 3ds Max
The Splice API allows studio teams to expose Fabric to other applications, such as Autodesk’s Maya, Softimage, and now 3ds Max, as well as renderers or their own in-house custom dependency graphs. It enables artists to benefit from Fabric Engine’s high performance tools and real time rendering capabilities without learning a new application. Splice support for 3ds Max will be available in version 1.13, currently in beta testing and with general availability planned for August.
SIGGRAPH User Group
Fabric Software will be hosting a SIGGRAPH user group at the Vancouver Convention Centre (Room 306) on Tuesday August 12, 10:00am-6:00pm. Sessions will cover characters and crowds, use case examples from MPC and Hybride, as well as visual programming and deep technology dives. See www.fabricengine.com/siggraph for schedule.
Other activities
Porting Fabric Engine to NVIDIA Unified Memory: a Case Study in the NVIDIA Visual Computing Theater – booth #1201 on Thursday August 14, 10:40am.
Private demos at the Fabric booth #1553 – appointments can be made via sales@fabricengine.com

At SIGGRAPH 2014, Chaos Group is bringing back one of last year’s most popular presentation events, “V-Ray Days.” Filled with behind-the-scenes information on rendering techniques used on films like “Captain America: The Winter Solider,” “Maleficent,” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” the two-day event will not only cover films, but broadcast television, commercials, game cinematics and more.
Both “V-Ray Days” will be held at the SIGGRAPH Convention Centre (room 223) starting at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 12) and 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 13). Presenters include top supervisors from Industrial Light & Magic, Digital Domain, Blur Studios, Method Studios, Scanline VFX, and IKEA. This event will also be open to all SIGGRAPH attendees.
In addition to “V-Ray Days,” one of 2014’s big stories is coming to Real Time Live. Entitled “Maturing the Virtual Production Workflow: Interactive Path Tracing for Filmmakers,” the talk will target how Kevin Margo (of Blur Studios) and Chaos Group were able to create a virtual production workflow with a new prototype of V-Ray for MotionBuilder that uses ray traced rendering to display high-quality images during a live motion capture session. Chaos Group’s Vlado Koylazov and Christopher Nichols will join Margo as presenters on Tuesday, August 12 at 5:30 – 7:15 p.m. in the Convention Centre’s West Building, Ballroom C/D.
On Sunday, August 10, NVIDIA will join Margo and Nichols to discuss “How V-Ray RT and GPU rendering are Defining a New Filmmaking Paradigm” in room 223-224 in the Convention Centre at 10:15 – 11:15 a.m. Chaos Group will join NVIDIA again for their Limelight event to showcase the most recent advancements in V-Ray RT GPU rendering on Tuesday, August 12, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel.
In the Chaos Group Booth (#501), Autodesk will discuss V-Ray’s optimization for 3ds Max 2015; while Ephere will explain how V-Ray can be maximized for their hair creation tool Ornatrix for 3ds Max. Further demos will be conducted by Chaos Group staff and will cover everything from new developments in V-Ray 3.0 for 3ds Max and Maya to Phoenix FD. There may even be something brand new to share.
Also at the booth, visitors will see a two story V-Ray Art Gallery filled with some of this year’s most creative user artwork. The V-Ray community’s talents are enjoyed the world over making this signature installation a must see.
