is rendering one view in a 3d-application and using the z-buffer to generate the second view in compositing a common workflow? this could save hours of rendering time…
but from my experience using the z-buffer for displacement leads to rather “dirty” results…are there any better workflows or does anyone have experience with this kind of work?
thanks
MÖBIUS; A collaborative stop motion sculpture Twenty-one large triangles animated by Melbourne, throughout Federation Square. MÖBIUS is a sculpture that can be configured into many cyclical patterns and behave as though it is eating itself, whilst sinking into the ground. The result is an optical illusion and a time-lapse of people interacting with the sculpture […]

Been a long time coming, but this delightfully illustrative and darkly comic tale is now available to view in its entirety online, after having toured festivals. I especially enjoyed the constantly pulsating and bubbling white beard of “dad.” Designed and directed by Dylan White, so be sure to head over to his site for more behind-the-scenes info. I enjoyed the click-thru showing the juxtapositions between storyboard images and final style frames. Full credit list on the site and on the Vimeo page here.
I am running into a bit of trouble in that the node does what I want it to until I have multiple instances, then the variables I am setting are over riding the previously set variables.
So what I am asking in sort is there any way to set unique variable names automatically based on the node name (or some other method) then call those names later in expression links?
Additionally is there any way to create a floating point slider with a range that can be controlled via expression? For example if I wanted to set the limits to Read1.first and Read1.last?
Anyway, here is the code so far. Cheers!!
