Position Summary:

The Layout TD produces previs, post-vis, camera and character blocking, to build editorially sound sequences which subsequent CG departments use as the foundation for shot construction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· To work with the VFX supervisors, clients and editors in the creative process of visual narrative
· To work with a team of Layout TDs to lock timing, continuity and shot content on various complex sequences across the whole film

Requirements:

· Must have strong well rounded knowledge and interest in the film making process: cameras, formats, cranes, rigs, shot composition, shot types and combinations, narrative etc.
· A solid understanding of all parts of a standard CG production pipeline: modeling, keyframe animation, procedural animation, particle systems, lighting, shaders, rendering, and compositing
· Character/creature animation experience is a plus
· A good general working knowledge of Maya and Nuke
· The maturity to be able to communicate directly with clients and understand their requirements
· At least 3 to 4 years of relevant experience

MPC Vancouver: Mid level Digital Matte Painter

Position Summary:

With an emphasis on the aesthetics and techniques of photorealistic image creation, the DMP artist will be responsible for painting photo real environments, elements and textures for matching into live action plates or to stand on their own as DMP plates. These Digital Matte Painting’s may also be used in a 3D environment and may be mapped onto 3D objects.

DMPs can be created from scratch or sampled from photos, scanned reference or any other artwork necessary to create new objects or to match the surfaces of existing live action. A strong understanding and sympathy for real world materials and lighting is essential and must be demonstrated in the work on your reel. DMP artists may work closely with the modelling and shading artists and therefore must have a basic knowledge of the practices of each discipline.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ability to demonstrate proficiency in creating photo-realistic DMPs required
· Assisting and developing the look of a shot or sequence with the supervision team
· Work alongside the production team to establish schedules and technical requirements
· Works in partnership with shadier developer’s, lighters and compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard

Requirements:

· Proven experience in feature film/broadcast visual effects production

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Developing the look of a shot or sequence with the supervision team
· Using an array of commercial and proprietary lighting tools to match CG lighting to on-set lighting
· Producing test and final renders of all CG elements
· Creating working comps for review by the supervision team
· Helping establish suitable work techniques for other team members
· Working in partnership with compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard

Requirements:

· Thorough understanding of techniques and technologies related to CG rendering and compositing

Position Summary:

The Matchmove TD is responsible for reproducing the geometry, camera movement and object movement of a live action shot in a 3D environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Supervise the tracking of CG elements, both camera and objects to match live-action footage in a 3D environment and to maintain consistent shot quality
· Work with production to create matchmove schedules and project targets for your show
· Work to define any specific matchmove tools required for the show and identify any additions or modifications to our existing toolset required to realize this pipeline
· Monitor daily progress to ensure targets are being met, adjusting the pipeline and schedules as necessary
· Conform any Lidar scans, Survey Data or matchmove specific geometry prior to starting a sequence

Requirements:
· Must have thorough knowledge of software based object tracking and 3D rotoscoping of a digital model to a live action background
· Proven Matchmove experience in a large feature-film VFX production environment
· Must be proficient in: 3D Equalizer, Maya and Boujou
· Knowledge of Nuke an advantage
· Experience with other tracking software (eg Matchmover) taken into account
· Must be able to model and manipulate geometry for scene reconstruction and to aid tracking
· Candidates should demonstrate a good eye for detail and precision with strong problem-solving skills

· Uses an array of commercial and proprietary tools to create character rigs
· Design control mechanism’s that are simple and intuitive
· Work in conjunction with the modelling department and animation department to create photorealistic characters
· Integration of characters and rigs into the production pipeline.
· Create User Interfaces and tools that assist animators
· Works in partnership with R&D programmers, Animators, Lighting TD’s to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard
· Provide support to character rigs throughout production
· Write scripts that automate character production

Requirements:
