fxphd Nuke compositing classes – suggestions needed :)

Hi everyone!

I’m sorry to be asking about this but I’m planning to sign up for April11 term on fxphd. I’m planning to apply as (entry level / first time) Nuke compositor / stereo compositor after the term, and I’m wondering what could be the best nuke/stereo nuke courses I’ll be taking that you know (or you’ve taken before) that will be worth to take and learn.

I’m planning to sign up for the 5 courses, three courses are already my final choices, they are:

1. Intermediate Nuke
2. Advanced Nuke
3. Intro to Maya 11

I’m still in dilemma for the remaining 2 courses, among to choose are:

1. Nuke and Sterescopic
2. Nuke 2D to 3D Stereo Conversion
3. Nuke Stereoscopic Workshop ( i hope they still have this in April)
4. Roto Techniques for Stereoscopic Conversion ( i hope they still have this in April)

Just a note, i don’t have yet any experiences with compositing and roto in the real industry, and i want to choose the courses well so I’ll get prepared with my reel and to have much confidence the moment i apply to vfx houses.

Thank you in advance for the help and suggestions. I owe you this. Hope to hear from everyone. 😀

Cheers!

Lexus[cadillac] commercial, What effect are they using?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b99j…feature=relmfu

at 00:11 seconds you can see this awesome streak they’re using in this commercial, they use it through out the entire commercial.

I dont think its anything like a magic bullet effect or a motion blur on highlights because you can see those streaks break up and change with distance *hard to explain*

anyone know how they’re doing that or what they may be using? really appreciate any info on this as that effect looks amazing.

F5 SPEAKERS – ROUND 2

Part two of the three-part speaker trilogy!   This second group of artists speak directly to the larger design community in their breadth and approach. It can be narrative live action or cultural live mash-up. Robotics or digital flesh.  Danger Doom or Chiller. They all give exquisite life to an image. And provide us with a new set of specs to see through.

  • Radical Friend: acclaimed experimental//experiential directing duo
  • Onesize: creative studio powerhouse
  • Eclectic Method: audiovisual remix masters with culture on their minds
  • Heather Knight: innovator of robotic entertainment
  • Jacob Escobedo: celebrated network exec-cum-designer behind [adult swim], Cartoon Network, and a whole slew of musical projects
  • Tool of North America: leading the new wave of interactive storytelling
We couldn’t be any happier with the overall line-up so far. The imagination they share — the messages they speak — the moments they design — each speaker is a catalyst for us to create with fearless expression and dedication.

Now, with less than two months left and tickets already flying away, we ask you to come along for the ride. Head over to the site for more information!

TrueLight profiles (?)

Hi guys, i hope this fall within here…

lately i was trying to get into Filmlights Truelight system, but since i am mostly from Compositing dpt., i have no special knowledge of DI. Workin’ on Foundry’s NUKE 6.2 with calibrated monitor (LCD – EIZO CG243W) in controlled enviroment. From time to time i had to work with scanned film DPX seq. but also with digitaly captured source images (RED, HD, …). Nuke has build-in Truelight plugin, but only a few basic profiles provided. So the main question is: "Who is creating truelight profiles, and where can i reach them? Is it Filmlight Ltd. themself or stock makers ? Or do we need DI specialist with Truelight hardware to build custom ones ? I am just wondering what is the right way to use them, and learn some new stuff…
