Normals flipped

Is there a script or a way in maya to get all the normals of multiple objects to face the correct direction. I have a complicated car model made up of hundreds of objects. A bunch of them have their normals reversed and are rendering black. Is there a way to fix this without individually selecting each object and reversing.

Thanks!.

Query knob’s flags from Python?

Hi all, first time poster!

In Python, nuke.Knob has methods for setting and clearing flags (ie, whether it’s hidden, starts a new line, etc), but I can’t seem to find a way to query whether a flag is set on a knob or not. Does anybody know how to do this in Python?

I need some help

Hello every one:

Nice to meet you at here at first.

I’m a university student. I try to secondary development in nuke from the foundry for my graduation design.

It’s just a particle system to achieve raining an snowing. It not need to look very real.

Now,I have some problem:
1. Nuke is developmented by which language?
2. If I want to development a plugin, which language I should use?
3. Is my graduation design hard to achieve?

Have a nice day !

viewer rendering ProPhoto RGB oddly…

Trying to view a prophoto RGB image in Nuke, and it renders it strange compared to other ICC compliant software. I am guessing I need some kind of prophoto viewer lut opposed to the shipped sRGB?

I know it can handle the data correctly as I can use the colourSpace node to convert from 1.8 Prophoto to 2.2 sRGB and the results are what I would expect…. I just cannot view it.

Here, the attached shows ProPhoto on the left, sRGB on the right.

Thanks for any insight with this.

Caustik Promo

This piece is a tribute to Pierre Magnol AKA BrightPhoton (formerly Gkaster). It’s somehow a re-creation of their original nano design piece done back in 2009. I’ve always been a fan of their work and admired the creativity and technicity behind this piece. I’ve also always wanted to recreate it as part of my technical experimentations, but without any planning it’s very hard to complete personal pieces. So I set myself a deadline: 8 days, 3 hours per day, GO!
And here it is. It was a fun and tough challenge. I discovered by mistake many new techniques in 3DSMAX and After Effects. Of course I still admire the original piece for the level of detail, the fine animation and sound design. The one i completed still lacks something, but for the time spent on it, i can say i’m satisfied with the result.

For those interrested, i will be making a Making-of shortly and post it on the blog. caustik.tv/blog
