i’ve watched a few tutorials about bring in multilayer photoshop files into nuke. but when i tried it i didn’t quite go according to plan.
i read in the multilayer psd. lets say the example file im using has 4 layers which i name , sky, fg, bg, and middle. at 16bit. when i read in the .psd file into nuke. either using the shuffle or viewer option tabs to see if i can see my layers is how they described it on the tutorials. however i dont get anything like that. even the file describer, the thing which details all the layers available within the viewer just say rgb. its like its flattened my .psd and ignored everything.
i shuffle and try to find anything resembling the layer names i’ve givin my psd. sometime it’ll pop up and when i select it the whole image just goes black?
is this is bug. or am i misunderstanding how to bring in .psd?
cheers
jamie 🙁

I want to direct films that involve heavy VFX. Pirates of the Caribbean, Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, How the Grinch Stole Christmas… etc. Adventure/Fantasy films.
Anyway, I’ve always had an interest in learning visual effects but I wanted to get some feedback from the community…
Is learning VFX and starting a career as a Visual Effects Artist be worth it for an aspiring Director? Or should I just focus my energy on writing and directing some low budget indie films to try to get attention from the big guys?
I’ve noticed a trend in how many effects artists are becoming directors (Eric Brevig, Stefen Fangmeier, Neil Blomkamp, Garath Edwards).
If I was to go the low budget indie route, whats the best genre to start in if I want to get to Fantasy films one day? Fantasy in itself is a bigger budget beast, but I feel like starting in comedy or drama would be like taking the rocky road uphill… is there a better start?
Example, one guy hold something in your hands and this is a source of light, how I can project the lights on his body ?

Sydney-based filmmaker, Guy Verge Wallace, has just birthed a 5-month-long labor of love in the form of a music video for Papa Vs Pretty. At just 19 years old, Guy executed this entire film alone in a friends living room.
Inspired by the dinner scene from Pink Floyd’s, ‘The Wall’, he fuses the visual language of people like Svenkmajer and Gilliam with less direct contemporary pioneers like Radical Friend, Tatia Rosenthal and Sean Pecknold. Combining new and old techniques, his analog aesthetic is corrupted by the digital world.
You can also check out a wonderfully detailed making of on Guy’s blog that chronicles the process behind these life-sized stop-motion characters. Keep your eye on Guy. This is the energy we need to keep evolving as an industry.
(Tracker_horizon.track4-10+Tracker_horizon.track2-10)/2 |
This should add the two track points together (minus 10px offset) and divide by two, hence giving me an average.
But, while in the expression dialog I get the correct result, after it’s applied it seems as if the "/2" is ignored.
Any ideas?
