Reposition world center point

Hi all, I’m a little new to Nuke so I may have overlooked this in the manual or missed a forum post but I’ve looked everywhere and I can’t find the answer. I’ve made up a 3D set with lights, animated cameras and a readgeo. Now due to the way certain things in Nuke work I’ve had to make sure that the whole set is placed in positive space, which I thought I did. However it turns out that some of the set is running into negative space and since I’ve duplicated my basic setup a number of times (Different angles e.t.c) and have a lot of keyed cameras (and lights in specific places relative to the read geometry) is there any way I could reposition the world zero point to put everything back into positive space? Or is this a classic gotcha?

Visual effects supervisor Greg McMurry oversaw 800 shots for I Am Number Four, the story of an alien fugitive on the run from other-worldly pursuers. Here’s my article at fxguide which takes a look at some of the key effects scenes from the film.

Roto Challenges: Shot w/ No Blue screen.

Hello,
I’m (trying) to do most of the vfx for my short film myself, because I’m on a a micro budget at this point in post. I bought Shake and am taking self-study courses on it. I peeked around forums, but haven’t seen anything yet that addresses the challenge of roto-ing a shot that wasn’t shot on green/blue screen.

I’m needing to roto a woman out of a wooded environment, and then place her onto another background plate (another wood). The footage was shot in DVCPRO HD. The challenges I’m running into are:

1. It’s hard to roto something you can’t see the outline of! The hands/fingers turn into a blurry blob every few frames, and the individual fingers are such a small part of the shot, it’s hard to see enough edge detail to trace even when they are somewhat distinguishable. So I go from lots of points around fingers, to not knowing what to do with all of them when they turn into a blob.

2. Fluffy hair. Is it even possible to roto it? I’ve been warned that I’ll run into "fluttering."

I’ve posted screenshots (per above) of my roto attempts here. If anyone has suggestions, and is willing to share, I’d be very grateful!

Thanks!!!
Therese

Character FX reel

Here is my reel about hair/cloth/fur reel, there is no production work yet, because I am currently in school and will graduate in May 2011.

I am aiming the hair/fur/cloth FX aritst position in feature film studio, but it’s rare to see this specific reel or discussion online, it would be great if anybody can give me more information and feedback.
