Our ideal candidate will require:
• Graphic design with Games User Interface creation experience to work on a brand new console project.
• The successful candidate will ideally have a years experience within the games industry but this is very flexible. You will be able to seek out creative and design / functionality related solutions on their own initiative.
• You should have a strong background from a Graphic Design related area, will strong Flash skills and be able to show examples of beautiful, clean and easily navigable interfaces.
• The candidate will ideally have extensive knowledge of game front-end systems design and functionality.
• The successful candidate will also be asked to produce in game graphic design related assets, such as advertising and fonts so as to tie the in-game environments to the Front-end and HUD.
• Any 3D art experience will be a bonus.

My Old VFX Reel 08

Hi everyone, can some tell me if my reel plays smoothly and okay? Because on my computer it “sticks” but a friend of mine says it plays okay, if would be very helpful if someone can confirm this thank you. This is a reel I did awhile ago and I’m currently working on a new reel. Any comments are welcome and it was my first VFX reel thank you.

Superfad Crafts An Explosive Summer X Games

Continuing its work with the Martin Agency on the “Original Works of Sport” campaign, this new round features a wide reach with print and television spots and other elements to be rolled out this summer. To produce the work Superfad delighted in experimenting with the look and feel of fireworks explosion to achieve something above and beyond that of neighborhood Fourth of July festivities.

Bits of BMX bikes, skateboards and motocross bikes were included giving an added sense of danger and derring-do to the imagery. Fuses were also added to the athletes so that they would appear to be an extraordinary combination of human and firework with the right bang for the sport. Other hidden effects were employed including a high level of rotoscoping – especially in the Pastrana X10 spot where he appears to race himself.

“It was exciting to take the familiar image of fireworks and deconstruct it by really making these explosions individual to each of the athletes and their events,” says Superfad Creative Director Robb Rugan. “We enjoyed the challenge of making each moment separate and unique.”

trailer shots on your showreel

What is the general consensus on having a shot on your showreel from a trailer for a film that hasn’t been released yet.

Cause normally the shots don’t clear till the DVD comes out, and this is usually when you can start putting it on your reel. But if the trailer is out, surely it shouldn’t matter if you would put it on your reel.

I had a discussion with some of the more senior compers here at work, and they said you shouldn’t put any trailer shots on as you might p*ss people off.

Roto / Matchmove / Composite Reel of Doooom

Greetings fine denizens of VFXTalk.

I would love to get your helpful comments and general feedback on my newly improved (but never finished) Reel.

The purpose of this reel is to acquire a junior-level roto/prep or matchmove job at a film vfx house in the Bay Area. Any comments on how suitable this is towards achieving that goal would be fantastic, as well as comments on the structure and presentation of the reel itself.

Roto Reel – What Impresses a Watcher?

I am currently working a Rotoscope reel and am looking for input on what impresses a reel watcher or recruiter.

I will stick to HD footage, 720p and up, and use Nuke primarily (maybe venturing into Silhouette). I know that focusing on shots containing hair, motion blur and major shape changes are key, but what else can I look for to show off solid skills?

Should I stick to locked down cameras or cameras with movement? Should I limit myself to rotoing people or include foliage, animals, objects and scenery?
