stereoscopic question

Hey guys i don’t really know much about stereoscopic images but i went to see a movie in 3d today and i brought the glasses home and tried to look at a stereo image form the web but it didn’t do anything i know its kinda a wired question but wasnt i sepuse to see a 3d image thour the red and blue glasses ??
