Bad Night Footage

Ok a little breakdown but I cant go into major details for certain reasons.

I work for a lawfirm currently, and was just handed some footage from a police dashcam. Its pretty late at night and its a very dark street. I need to correct this footage possibly degrain. I know I can’t make it perfect, but I really need to see what is going down when they step off into the shadows.

Gamma and Brightness blow it out too much, I was wondering if anyone had some nice tips. I am about to just work on possibly a single RGB channel, but the less I have to edit this footage the easier its gonna be to get the OK to use in court.

I wish i could show an example of the footage, but this is evidence after all and not sure if I can or not so I think i’m gonna play it safe Haha.

You can’t buy Shake anymore. Now it’s REALLY discontinued.

Too bad. I’m still using it everyday. On high profile projects.

At $500 you couldn’t beat it.

Motion is silly.

losing quality after destabilizing

hi guyz,

here’s my problem : i stabilize my shot (using stabilize node and choose stabilize) to remove shaking, then do some magic compositing, after this i put back the shaking/jitter by destabilizing it ( by copying the first stabilize node and select match). after all the magic, i end up with my shot is being reduced in quality. Everything seemed to be a bit blurry than the original.

is there anyway i can fix this?

Shake Over Node Problem

Hey guys 🙂
Iam pretty new to shake and I also ran into my first couple of problems 😀
I have no idea why, but when I connect 2 images via an over node, it doesnt actually put the foreground image over the background image. It rather shines through like a screen node
Heres a screenshot:

thanks in advance 🙂

i thought 10 bit was fixed

shake 4.1.1 was supposed to solve 10 bit quicktime problems?

working in 10 bit uncompressed 1080. QT 7.6. OSX 10.5.6. I confirmed I’m on 4.1.1.

about 50% of my files have digital noise on the far right side of frame. about 20 pixels in. "force 8bit" solves it. But then some files don’t have the problem. I’m doing "export to Shake" from Final Cut.

10 bit rendering is working fine.

thoughts or clues? thanks!

Stab/Smoothcam with extra jumpy footage

have live concert footage, 16mm to 1080, camera was on a platform that was bouncing with the crowd banging their feet.

Overall there’s probably not more than 60 pixels of Y jump over 1 or 2 frames, but it’s so hard and fast you’re getting heavy motion blur.

Obviously a hard stabilization locks things in but you still get "blurred frames" from the motion blur in the source footage.

any thoughts?

Can you adjust Shake Smooth Cam?

Is there a way to adjust how much Smooth Cam effects your shot…..

I dont mind some of my shots being a big shakey….that way I wouldnt have to scale my shot and loose quality….let me know

Shakes Smooth Cam is the BEST?

is it?

It sure is the best I have used and intergrates well with Final Cut. What other programs have the same feature and what are some of the comparisons?:happydevi
