Is After Effects even used as compositing software in the industry?

The reason I ask is because I know AE in and out … it’s been my comp software of choice for many years, and was used in my Visual FX degree program while in school. I’m aware of node-based software, such as Nuke or Fusion, but the interface and workflow is just so drastically different, I feel I need to invest in some classes to learn it (something I don’t have time for at the moment). As a junior compositor, it’s probably in my best interest to eventually learn the node-based software, but is that something that’s high priority right now? If there are still Visual FX (not Mograph) companies out there that use AE, I would be interested in who they are and what they do… if not, then damn… I gotta find some time or really good tutorials to get on this stuff!
