slice tool

Hello guys!
Guess most of you have downloaded set of tutorials on thefoundry.co.uk. Is it possible use slice tool gizmo mentioned there http://www.thefoundry.co.uk/articles…ur-correction/ as nice colorized histogram? I really have no idea to what purposes it has two points.
