Upgrading a CPU?
Posted in: Hardware & Tech Talkhope someone can help me even though I not much of a technical person when understanding hardware and I been thinking of upgrading my CPU for awhile now. Main reason being I’ve been having trouble rendering, whenever I try to render in Maya with mental ray the PC shuts itself off (to me it looks like it can’t handle the information) and it has a blinking light (power light), the only way to restart the PC is to unplug the mains power source.
The PC is a custom built and has the following specs-
Dual Core AMD Opteron ™ Processor 2216 2.41 ghz
4GB RAM
nvidia Quadro FX 1700 512MB
Windows XP Professional Edition X64 Service Pack 2
I’m using Maya 2008
My main piority is for the PC to be able to render out passes and I believe that it maybe the processor that is the issue. So the main item I’m been considering to upgrading is the processor as I dont have much of a budget. So what do people suggest to upgrading the processor? How much would it cost (UK prices)? Any help welcome thanks.
