Here is my second test for a 100% CG Scene, again using mattepainting and camera projection.
This is a little shot I’m working on for my reel. I’ve just done a single frame so far and, before I spend a week or 2 rendering the other 384 frames, I thought I would try and get some feedback on what I’ve done so far.
I’ve attached some pictures of what I’ve done so far and I would be very grateful for any tips on how I could make it look better / more realistic.
To give you a better idea of what the final shot will look like, I’ve posted a matchmove / layout video here:
Oh, in case you’re wondering, there are 680 basketballs altogether:D.
Many thanks.
I’ve got a couple of demo reel shots I’ve been working on that I’d love some feedback on. Right now they both feel about 85% there, but I’ve been staring at them so long, I can’t figure out where to go from here.
First is this old Star Trek bridge replacement shot. I wish I’d thought this through before getting really far on it, I’m not sure using TV show material like this was a good idea.
Next is a shot I did for an fxphd challenge, but I’d love any feedback on how I can complete the shot. I think something feels off but I don’t know if it’s the grade or the texturing of my model.
Both include some simple breakdowns of progress so far.
Thanks for checking these out!
I’m creating the earth in maya and comping in Nuke
Advice would be great.

I will be posting every update i do on this project , i have made some test comps so i am posting them. All done in in Maya and composited in Nuke.
I just want to have some realistic visual effects on this as this is going to be my first visual effects group project.
Will be glad to have any kind of comment from you all. Thanks

I just finished a 3 sec. shot I wanna use in my future compreel. I would kind of call it finished … BUT… something is missing and I would be glad to see if you could figure it out for me :> …
For the composite I basically took a day-still and wanted to “nighten” it … nice word o.O … First I wanted to do all 3D in Nuke but then I found it was easier to do all the projection and lighting in Maya. The models were for free since I wanted to focus myself on compositing and not modeling or even texturing ^^.
I hold the breakdown fairly short and fast just because later in my reel it’s just one shot of a dozen and any professional will know what was done anyway.
Well – I hope you can help me figure out what the last 15% are the shot is missing right now … and hopefully I can fix them in nuke rather than going back to maya being a 3D artist -.-
