Rotoshape on camera projected card

Quick question, usually if I toss a roto node right before a card and set it to alpha/premult, I can see and manipulate my spline in 3D view.

However, if I am running a project3D node to my card, and I put my roto between my project3D and my card it wipes out the project3D and just puts the footage flat on the card. I can put the roto before the project3D and just roto out the flat footage element, but then I can’t manipulate or see the spline in 3D view.

Any suggestions?

Tricky Extraction on Snake Tongue – .R3D provided

Would love to peoples technique on extracting just the snake’s tongue from this plate. I provided the r3d (Personal use only please!)
You will notice some challenges as the tongue flickers in and out of the greenscreen. The shot is locked off, so maybe some difference techniques could be employed. I’m not hopeful, but optimistic!

Good luck

CameraTracker Lens Distortion question…

Howdy,
I wondered if anyone could advise of the best method to deal with lens distortion using the CameraTracker node in Nuke (allowing for rotoing before tracking).

Currently, I’ve attached a ‘LensDistortion’ node to the footage, used the ‘Line Analysis’ section to draw some vertices in, and analysed the shot. This seems to have done an awesome job straight off.

So, the next step was to roto out the moving people in the scene before tracking (it’s a busy London shot so this took awhile).

It’s only at this point that I’ve now attached the ‘CameraTracker’ node and started the tracking process, after which I’ve hooked up a ‘PointCloudGenerator’ node.

The resulting point cloud is massively disappointing though! Absolutely tiny, with little detail, and arguably less useful than the standard CameraTrackerPointCloud

So now I’m wondering if I’ve gone about this the wrong way?
I saw a tutorial on The Foundry’s site where they branched the ‘LensDistortion’ node off separately from the footage, then hooked up the ‘CameraTracker’ node directly to the clip itself, and just dragged and dropped the analysed distortion properties from the ‘LensDistortion’ node to the lens distortion section of the ‘CameraTracker’ node. They never actually included the ‘LensDistortion’ node in the CameraTracker tree like I have.
But on the other hand, they didn’t do any roto. And I wonder, if I did it this way, would I have to roto from scratch on the original/distorted plate? Or could I somehow use the undistorted roto?

I’m really hoping I can somehow make use of the original roto node because I’ve spent a couple of evenings rotoing everything using the undistorted image now.

I really hope all this makes sense. Lol. Apologies for the HUGE post!
It’s just that I’m wondering whether I’m actually doing this right or not?

Thanks in advance.
Chaz

Rotoshape Question

Hey guys,
this is a simple thing but i really can’t figure out how to do this:
basically I need to enlarge the thickness of an open rotoshape.
Imagine I have a single line made by two points.
I want to obtain a thick alpha line from that roto and multiply an image by it.
I can’t do that with a brush because I need to control it as it is a rotoshape.
Any ideas?
Thank you

Multiple Writes

Hi, I recently finished a project and want to make a simple breakdown of it.
Therefor I want to render various stages of my work from the source to the final result.
I dont want to render these stages manually.

Would anyone explain to me how I will be able to render multiple write nodes in one .nk file at the same time?.

as Example I posted an image of my idea of multiple writes.

Translation Problem

Hi,

i did a 4-Point-Track, but these four points should only work as a reference. If you look on the picture you`ll understand. You´ll see where my points now and (the red ones) where i need them. I´m trying to cover these logos. Maybe someone could help me. Thanks alot!

Creating EXR files in Nuke

Hi all,

I have multiple passes like ambient, specular, occlusion, motion vectors etc which are in sgi format. Which means they are all separate files. Is there an option to take all these files and build a multi-layered exr using Nuke.

Thanks in advance.

Stereo with different cameras

Lets say i wanted to take a stereo picture or make a stopmotion animation using a 7d and a 550d, they are basicaly the same camera but with different sensor distance, what problems should i expect with this setup? is it possible to do it? im just curious

Merging projections

Hi,

I’m currently trying to project two images of one head ontop of geometry by the 3dproject node, but I don’t really know how to merge them (did try it with apply material and merge material, but this didn’t work out as expected)

see my script below. Thanks in advance for you help guys
