A book problem !

Well nowdays my eyes are always on "The Art and Science of Digital Compositing" by Ron Brinkmann.Well in the matt creation chapter there is a piece of technique

as Ron said " Assume we are working with an image shot on a blue background. The first step the color difference method involves the creation of a new image in which this blue backing is suppressed to black. This is done by selectively substituting the green channel for the blue channel in every pixel in which the existing blue component has a greater intensity than the green component. In other words, for each pixel,

If Blue > Green
then New blue = Green
else New blue = Blue "

so Ron is telling to substitute the green channel for the blue channel and then put a condition. I tried a lot to do this in nuke. But ended scratching my head.So please all Vfx artists give it a try it will be great help. Thanks:)

Stabilizing and DeStabilizing

Hi everyone,

I wanna roto out my character from live action footage and I thought I will as few tips here.. Since there is a lot of shaky camera movement involved I was thinking about stabilizing the plate do the roto on the character and then destabilize the plate again so it has original movement.. technically the roto should follow the character then, right?

So I used Tracker to track my footage then in transform settings I set it to be "Stabilize".

The problems that I’m having is when it comes to reintroducing the old camera movement.. I applied transform node (after the roto nodes) copied animation values from the Tracker and added *-1 in the expression tab… Now all the cam movement is back in place, however the footage that went outside the borders during the stabilization is black now… is there any way to tell NUKE to keep that footage data when it goes out of the border during the stabilization?

Or is there any better ways to do this kind of task?

Nuke peaking at 100% cpu time

Hi,

i sometimes have scripts, that seem to run in some kind of endless loop. Usually, when the script runs smooth, cpu usage is barely at 50%. But sometimes, cpu usages peaks at 100% as shown in the taskmanager, yet nothing happens! I can see some nodes blinking in the DAG, but no process at all in the viewer. And believe me i have waited long enough to make sure that really nothing happens. This is very annyoing as it seems to happen very random. Has someone had similar behaviour?
I have a Intel Core 2 Quad at 2,67GHz with 8 GB Ram.

Problem with semitransparent Keying

Hi folks,

I’m working on an urgent shot where I need to pull a clean key. That is not realy the problem. The problem is, that the greenscreen is uneven lit and the actress holds a glass witch, of course, needs to be semitransparent. In addition the glass-area is full of grain. Does anyone have a good idea how to proceed? I would be glad, if it would work without roto:cool:
Thanks for your help…

Object ID and Color Correction

Hello all,

As normal my teammate render out a EXR sequences which contains a collection of pass included Object_ID. We used 3DSMAX and V-Ray to render result out.

I do the compositing job but I dont know how to step by step select an ID from VRay_ObjectID to do color correction, my friend demonstrate for me how to take out ObjectID and do color correction in FUSION just 1~2 breaths, but for Nuke I have to search through this forum and google a lot, but most of the replies focus on download Gizmo and install, but all the Gizmo works look like just a key, when I use these Gizmo the problems appears immediatly because of the object edge, the mate can not knock out what I selecting like a real alpha channel.

Is there any way that I can do this in Nuke as a simple way like Fusion ?

Thansk all,
