UV Passes and texturing

Hi Everyone,
I’m a 3D artist just starting to get into composting. I’ve been researching retexturing and relighting in nuke this past months and hit a bit of a road block…

Was hoping someone can help me out with UV passes and replacing textures to a comp.

I have a layered exr (from vray) and am wanting to just replace the floor .First is this even possible with the provided multi matte elements? amusing vray has antialiased it?

any help greatly appreciated 😀

Cheers

EDIT:
In the scene file provided I accidently multipyed the new texture into the diffuse. When I put it to over the Gama goes off. What teh proper way to add this new texture to the diffuse?

Object/Material ID’s and Nuke?

I’ve searched and seen the older threads and discussions and I couldn’t figure them out.

Is there still no easy/straightforward way to use a Object/Material ID as a mask for say a color correction which is what I want it for?

Im a novice Nuke guy admittedly, but this is something that seemed to be simple in other packages.

Thanks for any help

Nuke 6.03v3 and Mac Os X

Hi guys,

I’m Mauro, a cgi artist who’s trying to move to Nuke from other comp software.

I downloaded the PLE edition of Nuke 6.0v3 for Mac Os X but I went across a strange issue with the graphic card (I suppose).

Here is a snapshot I made just a couple of minutes ago

Just look at those strange dots on the colorBars…
…I’ve tried playing with the settings but didn’t managed to get rid of them.

Also the refresh is weird: the image appears and disappears while passing over with the mouse.

Anyone has an idea on how to solve this?

Thank you very much in advance to everybody

best regards

Mauro

High / low color value

Hi everyone,

I would like to automate a grade node for my Zdepth from maya, how can I find the most highest value (and the lower) in a picture?

thx all

viewing internals of 3d lut…

Is it possible to open a LUT file with .cube extension? to know its internal workings… The file has been created inside of Nuke itself, and I need to open this file and see what color alterations have been done in this, and what nodes have been used… and then replicate the same fr fusion…
is this possible?
Also how does one make a lut file in nuke? I found the generate Lut node, and how to save the output file, but how do u modify the color to use as lut?

Create Facing Ratio in Nuke

Does anyone know if there’s any way to create a facing ratio type shader within Nuke 6 or X? I’m trying to figure out a way to get some camera angle data/facing ratio from some cards within 3D space in nuke.

Any info appreciated! Thanks!

Replacing nodes

how do i replace one node with another …(alt + drag in ae)
so that it takesits keyframes as well…

in know of cntrl shift drag but does that takes care of the key frames as well

Problems I face Nuke ….

Hi,
I’ve been using predominantly for the past 3 yrs now, my question is, In Nuke, the updation is much slower than that of fusion… Im talking about the viewer updation… Also,
In fusion, when Autoproxy is ENABLED, when the parameters are being altered the viewer goes into proxymode automatically till u leave the control ur clicking, only after you leave it, will it update in the viewer… personally , I dont prefer this and encourage people to switch this mode off…

Now the problem with Nuke is, it permanently seems to be stuck in that mode… That is, while tweaking the parameters, the viewer doesn’t update. Only after you leave the control it updates… I wonder how such a serious problem wasn’t addressed in NukeX.
Also, i find that the Color corrector node is not as efficient as that of fusion’s..I can tweak the levels incl. separate channel levels like R,G,B…also tweak the Shadows, highs, mids of R,G & B seperately, and also RGB together again… Now this is a real boon when it comes to CC. But in Nuke, I find this node very restrictive and rigid… I need to combine 2 more nodes to get a similar effect… also In fusion, it shows me the shadows, highs, mids, etc as Luminance(black—white) but in nuke it shows me this in Color…now this is not all that efficient to color correct…

Now the 3rd problem is, Im unable to animate the camera while looking at a scene through the camera and altering the Trans and Rot params while looking through it… I can do this so easily in Fusion… In nuke, I feel this is a huge burden.

I hope u guys have found a way to work around this and prove me wrong about my judgement abt Nuke
-Thanks,

Need Document about Matrix node in NUKE

Hi, guys here.Could someone tell me where I can find the doument about Matrix node in Nuke? I didn’t find information of Matrix node in the Nuke document PDF.I wonder how to use it with different cases. 3 x 3 , 3 x 4….what does the values mean ?
I did some tests about this node.It seems that it can do help with edge detecting…..
Any documents or explain about Matrix node is helpful to me.Maybe someone would like give me sereval .nk files to let me know the usage of Matrix node.:)

keep lowrez proxy from degrading?

hi,

If I mix a lowrez cg source (that has exactly the size of my proxy mode) with a nuke 3d projection and proxy mode is on (the final comp resolution is very high) nuke degrades the lowrez cg layer which makes it even harder to work with.

Is there any way to make nuke use the lowres footage "as is" without degrading it further in proxy mode? Seems simple but I cannot find a solution,

thanks
