Re-connecting Media

I don’t understand how to reconnect my media files. I’m primarily working off an external hard drive and every time I go to another computer I have to reconnect all my media because my drive is given a random letter (I, E, H, etc.) and my files don’t load. That makes sense but in every other program I’ve ever used you just use some re-connect tool to point to the folder where your files are. I asked a Nuke expert how to do this and he said Nuke has no such tool. THATS INSANE!

Reconnecting 30 files manually every day is ridiculous. Please tell me there’s some tool that is hard to find that allows me to reconnect media. (Note – putting it on a local hard drive is not an answer because that file path changes as well on different computers based on name of computer. Also, changing the computer drive letter doesn’t work because I don’t have those privileges at work). I looked on creative crash for script but didnt see one.

Thanks – chris

Relighting and rendering in Comp

This is great news, finally it is the beginning of lighting and rendering in the comp department, still a long way to go, but this is a great start.

Great times for ahead for Nuke and Fusion.

center Pivot

is there any way to center pivot to my imported geometry as in Maya or do i have to manually do it every time.

Grain in Zdepth

this might be a very simple question.
I like to add grain to blurry area of Zdepth. similar to the to"lens tool" in photoshop. where you can add the Zdepth in alpha and add grain on the fly as well
In Nuke I used a shuffle copy to get my Zdepth to work. but the grain tool in Nuke doesn’t have an alpha feed in it ?
thanks

setExpression x and y values

I’m sure this is something really simple but I can’t seem to figure it out. I’m trying to set an expression on a center knob for x and y. This is essentially what I want to do…

Code:

n['center'].setExpression('width/2', 'height/2')

but the only way I can seem to get it to work is using….

Code:

n['center'].setExpression('width/2')

which sets both x and y to ‘width/2’

Thanks for the help.

Consolidate footage

Hello guys, I couldn’t find any info on the matter. Is it possible to move all the files and footage used in a comp to a chosen folder?

An automated way of doing this would allow me to remove all the unnecessary files and store the ones that I need in only one place. After Effects has a similar funtion that’s called consolidate or similar.

Thank you!
