keyframe animation using expressions

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone knows if Nuke can understand keyframe animation through expressions like Shake is able to.

This is an example of what I mean in Shake:

A mix node’s expression with a keyframe at frame 1 with a value of 0 and a keyframe at frame 2 with a value of 100 looks like this:

Hermite(0,[0,99.36,99.36]@1,[100,99.36,99.36]@2)

I want to be able to do something similar with Nuke but when you create keyframes in Nuke it just references a "curve". There must be a way to get the data from the curve since it is all based on math.

Any ideas?

Re-texturing OBJ file

hi fellas,

im in a deep lost to re-texture on nuke. i have my model called HELI.obj — i attached the file –and then , while on maya, everything is good, the texture is stamp fitted with the model. but when i transfered into nuke, i got confuse to re-texture on it ?:confused::confused:
another thing is, i’ll do animate the rotor of blackhawk, so should i get the other OBJ file-the rotor to do the animation?–i’ll make the rotation of it.

coz the plan is–according the workflow–i’ll setup all the CG elements done on nuke–the animation. to kill the time consumed.

so is there any good way to achieve this–instead of my case?;)

i would be appreciate it if there’s one of you could share the experience and the script ?:)

oops:scorching if anyone need the obj file please let me know–the attached file is the textures. I will send you the OBj if u need it–im sure u need it most.

best regards

Bicubic deform of a projected card

Hi, I need to deform, in a bicubic way, a card with a projection in it. The problem is that once the projection is done moving the bicubic handles in the card doesnt change the UV’s. I’ve tried with a trilinear but it doesnt work like bicubics. Any idea how to do it?

Thanks!

J_Ops 1.0v1a7 Released – Adding J_MergeHDR and Nuke6.1 support

As a bit of a pre-IBC treat, I’ve released J_Ops 1.0v1a7 for Nuke 6.1. This fixes a few bits and bobs, adds Nuke6.1 support, and includes J_MergeHDR.

J_MergeHDR is a node to build high dynamic range radiance maps from a series of low dynamic range stills. Check out the intro vid below for more info:

You can grab the builds from the links off the blog at:

Hope you find ’em useful! 🙂

ILM z-comp?

Hi!
I am wondering if anyone here knows how ILM made their z-comp in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIfHZ5ErMiw
More exactly the nodes that are in the yeallowish-brownish backdrop at 7:25 in the video.

From what I can see they are not using any ZMerge node and he is talking about "cutting it out with the z-channel" (2:25 in the video).

I know the video is low-res and there is a higher-res one at fxguidetv but not so high that you can figure out what nodes he’s using and he never shows any settings of the nodes.

I know a lot about integrating Nukes 3D-system with renders and position-passes and I got it working with the standard ZMerge and I know how to cut out stuff with the z-channel.

I just want to know if someone knows if ILM are using any special tricks in that setup to deal with aliasing and mblur issues and they seem to have a nice color bleed around the explosions also.

Thanks!

Single Channel EXR’s

I have some single channel EXR’s. Nuke treats them as Alpha-only, when in reality they are really "Luminance." It’s not a big problem to shuffle things where I need them, but I’m wondering if there is some way to convince Nuke that they should be visible.

When I first load them in, Nuke just shows them as black, and I always panic for a second before I remember that I need to check the alpha for my image. It’s kind of annoying.

It’s not a big deal, but if there is a convenient way to do it, I’d love to know.

python – how to update nuke.frame()

Hi , i create simple new panel subclass (inherit from PythonPanel class) with a button, so everytime the button is pressed , it will print current frame. i use : nuke.frame() to get the current frame . All is good until i got this problem: while the panel still open, then i move the frame slider to other frame , then press the button again, the value won’t update!…
so i have to close and reopen the panel to get the correct current frame value. It seems that the nuke.frame() is only executed once when the instance/obj is created, then it won’t get updated until i spawn new instance.

Anyone can help me?

Thanx.

Motion vector vs roto Motion blur?

Hi all,

For mainly lazyness,
I always use the "Motion blur" on the Roto Node instead of MotionBlur2D

What’s the main difference between using the "motion blur" on the roto node or setting up the MotionBlur2D & vetor blur?

Am I missing the big picture?
Thanks,
Lou
