Z slice with soft falloff
Posted in: NUKE from The FoundryIs there a way to get a Z slice with a soft edge that falls off. It needs to falloff along the Z axis and keep all its aliased properties.

I would like to use the "save new version" with this particular format but seems like Nuke only want files with an "v" ahead of the version number to do an incremental save.
Anyone knows how to modify this behaviour?
Thanks
My job is pretty simple:
I have HD prores movs to import to Nuke, work on them and write them back to HD prores movs.
Sometimes (10% of the cases) Nuke adds some metadata to the finished movs, so in fcp they are handled as if they were interlaced. In fact they don’t look interlaced in quicktime player, but fcp adds some blur on the clips. This blur goes away if I set the interlacing to non in FCP, but comes back if I export and reimport this shot into fcp. As well as that damn interlaced setting.
The source clips aren’t interlaced either, they look just fine in fcp.
The same happens with every mov format. I can’t export anything else, because I’ll face with gamma issue then. What do you guys think?
Have you ever seen something like this before?
Thanks,
pH.

super newbie question
Posted in: NUKE from The FoundryBasically I want to re-create the softlight blending mode from Photoshop in Nuke.
I thought I could do this by using the roto tool and merging it using softlight. But instead of getting the effect I want, the image darkens overall?
I’ve attached images to help explain. Please help! I just want to create a splash of blue on the image kind of tinting it just for a specified area.
what im trying to do (which is so simple it’s not even funny) is take footage we shot, and superimpose a section of a screenshot we took from 1 frame. in the shot, there is a car with it’s hazard lights on, and it’s very distracting. so i took a screenshot of a frame that doesn’t have the yellow hazard lights on, and im trying to get that cropped portion of the car to overlay over the footage. problem 1 is i don’t know how to do that. problem 2 is that the footage was shot on a steady cam, and not a tripod, so there is movement.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Still not working…I was wrong. 🙁
