Hey friends, check out this new remix from Friend. Also, let’s see how many times I can use the word “friend” in the following write-up.

Download: Memory Cassette – “Last One Awake”

Woah… steel drums! Summer’s really here!

Now we normally don’t give away songs for download, but we were contacted by and encouraged by our friends over at Acéphale to do just that. This exclusive remix from our previously shouted friend, Friend, comes as a preview of sorts for their next release, Memory Cassette’s “Call and Response EP” with Swedish boutique label, Sincerely Yours

As per usual with these fancy little boutique labels, the four track EP comes pressed exclusively on 7″ white vinyl and is limited to 500 copies. You can pre-order it from Acéphale’s website for release at the end of the month.

Miles Davis on 60 Minutes.

picture-2

Before Miles Davis left this mortal coil he was kind enough to give an interview to 60 Minutes’ Harry Reasoner. The rasp, the venom, the sly hilarity; none of them fading with age as he politely sat like a gnarled piece of bark across from the pasty establishment of 60 minutes. To his credit, Harry manages to take it well.

Big Wave on the lighthouse

Hi all,
This is a work a made for FXWARS challenge and it was a real adventure beacause I had to do many researches to find the way to render the 2 millions of particles created by Realflow.
At the end I used 3DSMax and Krakatoa. The compositing is done within Shake.
Thanks to Alessio Bordin for the music and sound FX.

And here’s a link to youtube to watch it in Streaming:

Zumbie

picture-21

When we were in Palm Springs a month or so ago, we threw a party with Paul Devro at the Ace Hotel. Fun times were everywherrr and we all had hotel rooms at the Ace, which equaled: party all night, jump in the pool, throw up, throw up, etc. The following day the hotel manager called us up and was like: “Yeah..uh…your buddy Paul is throwing a fit because we need him to check out. Can you get him to calm down?” So, we went to check it out. As we walked up the stairs all you could hear was a really loud thumping and a vocoded robot voice. Paul opened the door and a waft of smoke blew by him. My eyes adjusted to the dark room and I could just barely see some half-naked, clan-of-the-cave-bear-looking chick putting on some makeup and Andy Milonakis dressed up like a zombie sitting in front of a laptop. “What’s up, Paul?” “Oh hey, just working on some tunes with Andy. You know Andy?” Things got way more normal after that.

Until The Light Takes Us.

light_cropped

Black metal, black metal, black metal. Our fascination with church-burning, satan-worshipping, Norwegian nutballs is bottomless and with the genre’s growing popularity there is no shortage of documentaries or photo spreads to keep our brutal tastes satiated. Until The Light Takes Us is a little better than your average black metal doc though, spending significant time dissecting the core of how black metal became what it is today and how it has spiraled into something completely beyond anything it’s creators could have imagined.
