Lil B Flips Out, Starts 100 Myspace Music Pages.

l_6434844842d38c71e91f42b18595378d

According to one of Lil B’s 100 myspace pages, he’s in Beverly Hills “working”; i.e. lacing syrupy choruses over Air France and M83 samples while he freestyles for 6 minutes intervals in between base hits. Some of it is loosely focused and a lot of it us ….uh….less so. But from what we hear on the internets, the Pack is dunner then done and Lil B is just gonna keep maxing out his song playlists and adding as many myspace music pages as possible til he gets rich. And why not?? There is no shortage of girls taking naked cell phone pics of themselves while writing Lil B all over their spray tanned bodies.

Marc Jacobs Flushes Out the Goth Ninjas.

2

Marc Jacobs Mens Ready-to-wear Spring ‘10 collection has dropped! Hopefully this signals the emergence of “Patrick Bateman guest-starring in an episode of Miami Vice-esque fashion” and flushes out all that goth ninja nonsense that’s been dominating men’s fashion for the past 2 years.

Volume 09: Paul Devro

If you are a one legged zombie dragging yourself through the jungle with a boombox strapped to your back, trying to get to the next latin oldies party at the bottom of a waterfall, then this mix is for you. Paul has been a dear friend of WMIG for a long time and we have too many stories involving werewolf masks, rabbit tacos, Andy Milonakis, breaking into pools at 5am, and late checkouts to fit into this post, so we’ll let the zombie anthem speak for itself. Little bit of Salem, little bit of Kelis, little bit of Mad Decent faves, Major Lazer; it’s all here just in time to sweat it out for summer!

“I tried to make this mix different from most of the mixtapes that i receive from people.  I tried to not make it about new niche genres, super exclusive mp3s or even themed.  I just put together a bunch of songs that i have always liked and that I wanted to share.  There’s a bit of everything in here and i tried not to go too over board on the weird dial. Anyways, I like this mix, maybe a bit too many sirens but its 8am and i’m too tired to take them out. Hope you enjoy!” – Paul Devro

Thomas Bangalter Dances About Art.

daft-punk-ed-paschke

The latest issue of ‘whitewall’ magazine features an exclusive interview with Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter. Apart from Daft Punk interviews being generally uncommon, this one’s fairly unique in that it steers clear of the more conventional topics of DP related conversation, and more towards Bangalter’s sensibilities and influences when it comes to Daft Punk as an all medium encompassing work of “art”.

This just in from the what-the-efff-pipeline: Andrew WK is hosting a show on Cartoon Network that teaches children how to blow things up and put them back together. Could this be year zero for television? Is Andrew WK resetting the clock on everything TV-related? Can we be on the show? Check out the trailer HERE.

We are screening the new lookbook that we created for Samantha Pleet’s Holiday Collection tonight at an undisclosed location. Directly after, 8:30pm to be precise, we will have an intimate little afterparty at The Rusty Knot to celebrate all the people who worked so hard to make this all happen. Come join us if you are into things that are fun and if not, check back here tomorrow to see the film!_DSC2765

Bobb Trimble.

sc162

Bobb Trimble is crawling out of the armpit of 80s psychedelia to play his first NY show this Thursday at Rose Live Music. Heralded by Ariel Pink and Thurston Moore as next level psyched out amazingness, Bobb’s brain seems to be the exception to the syd-barret-rule as it seems relatively well-intact minus the fact that both of his bands were broken up by angry parents who didn’t want their children (the median age of his band was 12) smelling the farts of an old man donning a Tommy gun on his album cover. Jeeeesh. Parents man.

PULP

Picture 1

The upcoming book from Neil Krug, PULP, is a photographic collaboration with supermodel Joni Harbeck that pays tribute to a wide range of 60s and 70s iconography. Krug’s flickr account previewed some of these images earlier this year after he shot through a few rolls of expired polaroid film. The overwhelming response to those images inspired him to continue collaborating with Harbeck and has now resulted in a 200 image, self-published coffee table book to be released in August. The Jodorowsky influence is still prominent but has expanded into a more varied palate of iconic influence with some dashes of Morricone, Robert McGinnis, and Hitchcock.
