BLABAC ALMOST LOSES FACE TO MEGA RAMP.

BLABAC2

Mike Blabac’s new book for DC is a career spanning collection of golden moments that show the fence hopping, curb grinding, and great-wall-of china-jumping insanity that have made him one of skateboarding’s most respected lensmen. Never afraid to stick his lens in uncomfortable places, he bears a few nicks, bumps, and “one inch to the left and I wouldn’t be here” stories that unavoidably come with the job. BLABAC PHOTO does a great job of showing it all.

Hergé.

Christian de Portzamparc’s Musée Hergé feels like an intricately origamied newspaper page from the Sunday funny pages. Laced with beautiful details taken from Hergé’s timeless aesthetic that are both big and small, the museum will “highlight Hergé’s life and work through cultural facilities, permanent and temporary exhibition areas, and a video projection room.

ZOMBIE SKATER PUNK WHIP-IT ILLUSTRATIONS.

topimage

FRENDEN’s explosively colorful illustrations came to us late last night via the whispernetz and forced us to immediately watch a stack of powell peralta videos, do an acid drop, and call in our medicinal marijuana prescription. If these prints came in blacklightable velvet we’d quit everything, make our bedrooms into a shrine to teenagedom, and dole out bags of whipits and JD cards to all our friends as communion.

DIE VERBOTEN MAKES WHITE HOT IBIZA MIND SAND.

Picture 7A collaboration between Soulwax, Fergadelic, and Riton has yielded the audio/visual/galactic space project that is: DIE VERBOTEN, a krautrock influenced musical experience that comes with some pretty complex record sleeve origami created by Fergadelic. A DVD will be released at a later date but for now you can order up some heavy vinyl, wear your kaftan, and head to the white hot Ibiza sand of your mind.

Hippies Finally Do Something Worthwhile.

ripcurlcanyon_03

We used to be able to write the things off that we didn’t like with just one word: hippy. But now, these hippies at Ball – Nogues Studio are doing really cool stuff that we can’t easily dismiss with a blanket generalization. So check out the amazing architectural anarchy these hips are churning out of their environmental design sweatshop.

“Ball-Nogues Studio is an integrated design and fabrication practice that creates experimental built environments to enhance and celebrate the potential for social interaction through sensation, spectacle and physical engagement while striving to infuse the matter of the built environment with a downstream purpose. To achieve these results, we work with unusual materials, develop new digital tools, and apply architectural techniques in unorthodox ways. We share an enthusiasm for the fabrication process as it relates to the built object both physically and poetically by letting the properties, limitations, and economic scenarios associated with a material guide a structure’s ultimate form while developing methods to extend the intertwined boundaries of a material’s aesthetics, physical potential and lifecycle.” – Ball Nogues Studio

A TRANSMOGRIFIED JOURNEY OF TERROR

hfront1

We always think of Hamburger Eyes as a cleaned up version of the gang Keanu Reeves shot up in the beginning of Point Break. Except now, instead of dealing drugs and driving around in surplus army jeeps terrorizing traffic, they just show off gigantic photos of their barefooted spiritual journey through the streets of California where they start street fights, play with pitbulls, and brush their chrome weaponry. Check out their EXODUS show at the Minna Gallery on July 2nd.

“On July 2nd, Hamburger Eyes presents EXODUS at 111 Minna Gallery. This exhibition will showcase black and white photography from regular contributors of Hamburger Eyes Photo Magazine. Photographs will range in size from large murals of 8 feet x 10 feet, to the traditional standard of 8 inches by 10 inches.

The shows title, “EXODUS” envokes not only the feelings of mass migration, but of transmogrification. Hamburger Eyes Photo Magazine, subtitled “The continuing story of Life on Earth”, has dedicated their pages to the study of the human condition. And, in this exhibit they intend to display their visions of transcendence from past, present, and futurekind. It is a mission of containing time by setting it free, thus shall begin the EXODUS.

This event will also celebrate the release of Hamburger Eyes Issue 013. Hamburger Eyes Photo Magazine is based in San Francisco. It is off-set printed in black and white on glossy stock, perfect bound with a cardstock cover, holding 150 pages at a run of 3000 copies. Hamburger Eyes is carried in shops, stores, libraries, galleries, and museums across the entire planet.”

Heineken Walking Fridge contest

Hi guys,

We (Randy and I) joined a dutch competition for Heineken.
Target: “Make a follow up of the original walking fridge commercial”
Theme: “Summer”

Unfortunately we could use the camera 7 days before the deadline.
So we had only 7 days production time.

Day 1: Modeling and animating the fridge
Day2: Filming (shot with a Canon HF S100)
Day3 till 6: Compositing
Day 7: Rounding it up. Stress Stress Stress. Uploading crashed 3 times. Uploaded the
commercial one hour before the deadline!

It’s mostly mattepainting and greenscreen.

Well let me know what you guys think of it!
