eyeon Unveils Generation 1.1 at NAB
Strengthening Collaboration between Artist and Director in Postproduction

TORONTO: April 20, 2009… eyeon Software Inc. unveiled Generation 1.1 today at NAB. Generation is a new class of software, which fills a gap in post and VFX workflows by offering a platform for artist collaboration and a visual canvas for efficient shot management. The new version of Generation adds new playback and image adjustment features, and extends the collaborative capabilities of the application.

Generation combines shot-tracking with version histories, an editing panel for working with EDLs and playlists, and playback functions for review. Every part of Generation is scriptable so that facilities can integrate their in-house tools rather than having to modify their pipeline to make Generation fit in. Grease pencil annotation and live chat tools simplify communications between artists, supervisors and clients, and preserve a record of all feedback and decisions.

New Features in Generation 1.1 include:
* Support for 3D LUTs.
* Gain, Gamma and Lift controls, as well as brightness and contrast adjustment.
* Red, Green, Blue and Alpha channel views.
* Flip and Flop image mirroring.
* Crop masks for playback enabling artists to view content in different aspect ratios as it will display in different output formats.
* Customizable Context Menu for scripts which helps users organize and access scripts.
* Improved functionality for EDL imports, including reassigning media and timecode offsets.
* XML conversion to retain full timeline and version history.
* JPEG caching to allow more frames to be cached in RAM.

"Generation has been an invaluable addition to our pipeline, because it gives us 100% control of our shots, allows us to collaborate more effectively, and provides a simple way of documenting the whole process," said Christian Kaffka, producer at Freiraum FX who recently completed an Audi project with Generation. "It’s really valuable to be able to access every version of a shot during client reviews so we can do comparisons and show exactly what work has been done on each shot."

eyeon will be presenting Generation 1.1 all week during NAB at booth SL1915, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, April 20-23, 2009. For more information, visit www.eyeonline.com.

pre/un-premultiply nodes?

bit of a noob question here im afraid (I’m new to fusion) but i cant find the answer anywhere, I tried the manual as well as google.

Im searching for nodes that can pre and unpremultiply, I know the color correction nodes has an option to do this automatically but I need to do it manually at some point in my tree.

I could do this manually I guess but I can’t even find a node that divides two inputs so I’m a bit stuck.

Most comp applications simply has nodes to do this sort of thing, it should be straightforward but I can’t for the life of me find these nodes in fusion.

Hi Folks,

Here’s the link to the April Newsletter from eyeon.

http://www.eyeonline.com/Web/EyeonWe…ewsletter.html

We’re really excited about the new SWAT initiative and about bringing Generation and Fusion 6 to the masses at NAB and hope that many of you can come and join us at the show.

Cheers

Happy Easter Fusion 6

Hi again.

It’s Easter, and the Easter Bunny is looking for a place to hide it’s eggs.
[‘Bunny’ could be replaced with your favourite local egg laying mammal, of course]

So…the Easter Platypus is looking for a place to hide it’s eggs…;-)

And what would be a better place than a calm and sunny grassy hill.
Like the one in the attached images.

And since it’s a modern Bunny (or Platypus, or…) we also gave him some anaglyph glasses to improve his perception of depth.

Who is ‘we’?
Well in this case these renderings came from Theo g’Boom and where created entirely in Fusion 6.
They took 4 seconds/frame for the mono and 7 seconds/frame for the stereo rendering.

Thank you very much, Theo & Happy Easter.

Eric.

Z-Depth from Fusion’s 3D Scene

Hi guys,
First post! I am setting up a 3d scene in Fusion, it’s all very simple – just some planes at different distances and a simple camera sweep. All it well, but I’m going for a simple fogging-whilst-receeding effect. I was wondering it there were a simple way to do this in a 3D scene in Fusion, or, failing that, there is a way of essentially making a z-depth in Fusion based on a 3d camera, which I could then plug into the Deep Pixel fog (or, if I’m feeling cheap, simply screen over the top out my render!)

Any ideas? Thanks very much!

Dan

Fusion6 Sneak Peek

Hi Folks.

We’re all waiting for Fusion6 and suddenly there appear some images from outer space.
Some renderings utilizing F6’s new shader and material system.
Like the ones attached to this post.

Apart from the model itself and some photographed textures
these are all shaded and rendered in Fusion6.

Even the floor in the "carpaint" example is no texture, but a shader created in Fusion.

And now for the best part:
These shots will be demoed amongst other exciting things on our booth at NAB.
So make sure to come along and visit us at booth SL1915.

Have Phun.

Eric.

Talking about training …

Hi everyone,

eyeon announced its new SoftWare Artist Training (SWAT) program today. You can read the news here:

http://blog.digitalcontentproducer.c…iative-at-nab/

We’d be thrilled to hear from artists on training. Why is it important to you (or not)? What things work best in learning? If you have any thoughts, or good stories to tell about your own training experiences, please fire them over!
