Locator3D clarification
Posted in: Digital Fusion / DFX+I am trying to nut out some 3D tracking issues. We are doing a few sky replacements on some aeriel landscape shots. I have run the footage through Syntheyes and output a Fusion5 comp, so no issues there.
However, I am wanting to use a couple of the null markers on the horizon to help with roto. I have tried the 3D roto kludge on the VFXpedia website and it seems to crach my Fusion (5.21) so we resorted to more basic methods.
Am I correct in saying that the Locator3D node can take 3D co-ords and make them available to 2D nodes in Fusion? And, more specifically, will it give *animated* results?
That is, there is ZERO point in having the co-ords of a tracking marker or Locator3D if it doesn’t "move". Obviously, the null markers don’t move; they are the "ground". The camera is the thing that moves. What I need is really the data of the Locator3D *after* looking through the camera, if that makes sense.
To get the position data at the moment I am resorting to attaching a 3D object to the null markers and then tracking those after the 3Drender node! Obviously this is not ideal and I get the feeling that I am wasting perfectly fine tracking data.
I’ll be honest here, tracking in Fusion has been chaffing my ass for the last week and it would be great if I can get some insight before the weekend so I will not blow a gasket!

Finding problem with Merge

how i can import multiple image s on one canvas and then animate them over time

i try to handle those popular long time exposure effects like in the older ipod nano spot. i mean the drawn light rays that keep staying in 3d space while the car is moving on.
so, with the fusion particle system it nearly works out. the only problem i have is the look of the splines in exact 90 degree to it. here u can see space between the single particle planes that build the ray.
normaly the problem is solved with more particles and a higher subframe calculation, but i dont get the particles as close as i need to avoid the little spaces. no matter how many particles and subframe accuracy.
any ideas?

i am actually trying fusion as compositing software ( so i am kinda a newbie)
i was just trying to merge several pics between them just for testing, i choose one of my vehicle render, it appear well in the assigned viewer, then pick a random background from a stock in DA, save it, create an other reader, import the pic and put it in the second one, and it appear like the attached pic, it looks twisted in the viewer, i try to tweak the pic , save in TGA, PSD in photoshop, nothing works.
i tryed to look at pixel ratio, square, the background get the same aspect ratio of my working vehicle pic, i tryed to tweak the import settings, do not work…
i tryed with several pics, some of them works, some do the same , and gets like this,
so the question, did i forget to tweak something or turn on an option?
or maybe a picture protection? i am trying nuke too, and the pic is nicely imported, no distortions…

I have been struggling with this problem for sometime so i thought i should ask the pros.
Im attaching 2 files, both are .rgb files. Now, one in exported from maya using mental ray whereas other is exported from max using vray. My problem is that when i take the file from maya into fusion, it directly shows z depth data, but the one from max says it contains no z depth data. Why is this happening ?
Any insight into this would be greatly appriciated.

Tool Connection Menu
Posted in: Digital Fusion / DFX+I’ve watch the "Eight Small Changes" clip on Youtube and unfortunately, I can’t seem to get to get the Tool Connection Menu feature to work (holding down the control Key while making the connection)….
Is it supposed to work?….
