Gentleman Scholar: Motionpoems “Working Order”

For the Motionpoems Foundation, Gentleman Scholar created a flowing, painterly interpretation of “Working Order,” a poem by Dora Malech.

From GS:

Tasked with creating a visual interpretation of a selected poem, our team put a lot of heart and soul into this project. Allowed full creative freedom, we loved running with our imaginations and pushing the envelope with striking hand-painted imagery and hints of psychedelia. The result is an interpretation of Dora Malech’s ‘Working Order’ that takes the viewer on a surreal, exploratory journey into a woman’s introspective psyche.

“Book People Unite” PSA

Remember the wild things, giant bean stalks, and green eggs? How about drawing worlds with purple crayons, traveling the Yellow Brick Road or flying off to Neverland? For many of us, books were an escape: a fantasy world, where we made new friends and learned to dream. Now, imagine growing up without those stories. The sad truth is that some kids actually do.

Reading is Fundamental (RIF) teamed up with Mother New York to create “Book People Unite.” The PSA launched a nation wide campaign to raise awareness and funds for children’s literacy. Produced by The Roots, the musical track features the vocal talents of Jack Black, Chris Martin, John Legend and more, while the film brings together some of the most beloved literary characters of our time.

Watch the spot, but don’t stop there. Want to be a book hero? Take the pledge and you can even download the full track here.

Footnote:

Yep, we’re late to the game on this one, but who are we to argue against the merits of kids literacy? It’s a good cause. Enjoy.

Primary

RGB (red, green, blue) are the three primary colours of light. These three colours have informed the shape of the three sided form and the use of three separate light sources. The Primary installation explores the colour mixing of light as it illuminates a wall mounted cardboard structure. The wall mounted sculpture has been designed entirely around the light which washes across its surface to create a strong bond between light and built form. It is a site specific piece that can be scaled to suit any space.
