need workflow ideas for matchmoving mesh to actor

I need some workflow ideas for matchmoving/animating a full body mesh of an actor to a plate of the actor’s performance. I do not have a 3d scan of the actor or any motion capture data available so im having to just sculpt the mesh from photo references so im assuming i will have to use distortions of some kind to compensate for the edges being somewhat off in places. the hardest issue i am having is lining up the mesh to the actor and getting the perspective right. I have adjusted my virtual camera lens to match the focal length of the physical camera but am still having difficulties. Any ideas are deeply appreciated!
