Disadvantage to compositing with QTs in NUKE?

shot footage on Canon MK II 5D
transcoded the native h264 to apple pro res 422 HQ to edit in FCP
now im reading that i should export those QTs as img seq.

What if i just composited with the ProRes QT clips i export from FCP.

I ask because making img seq takes a lot of space and time. Is it worth it, why?

Additionally, is there any way for nuke to read the EDL or can i export all quicktimes as EDL, would let me fly through shots as opposed to doing each shot individually.

Any help would be appreciated.
