Three American entertainers who died in 2014 are singled out: Joan Rivers, Maya Angelou and Robin Williams.
“This year people searched for everything under the sun and beyond, from distant comets to tiny burritos. And they asked Google important questions like, “where do we come from?” and “should I get married?” That’s why today we’re launching our annual #YearinSearch , a look back at the searches, questions and moments that defined 2014.
The 2014 Google site includes insights into German hopes for a world record at FIFA World Cup in Brazil, focus on US snowboarder Shaun White at the Sochi Olympics, concern about the Ebola epidemic, the search for Flight MH370, conflicts in Ukraine, Nigeria, Israel, Palestine, Syria and Iraq, the Pistorius trial, the sinking of MV Sewol, the Scotland independence referendum, the shooting of Michael Brown, Dallas Buyers Club actors, and Eurovision Song Contest 2014 winner Conchita West.
