After more than 10 years of silence, the highly popular and much appreciated animated series Samurai Jack was announced to come back on television. But as far as we await with much anticipation for the return of the epic cartoon series, there is an underlying question that keeps ringing- What will this new series unfold?
Creator and director Genndy Tartakovsky along with his creative and production team spills away few hints on the components of this comeback series. “A lot of things have changed in Jack’s world. It is much more dramatic and emotional,” says Tartakovsky.
52 episodes of Samurai Jack first aired on Cartoon Network starting from 2001 till 2004. And now in 2016, this new season will not have much connection to where the 52nd episode ended. Tartakovsky and his team have tweaked the story a bit to entangle the protagonist Jack in his own dilemma of self discovery. So, years later from where the last episode ended, the plot has moved on further years with Jack being lost within himself.
Recently, the first promo art was revealed which showed Jack with a long beard portraying a deadly expression to justify his samurai aura. The team also confessed that they are making the most of advanced technology, softwares and equipments to create the series with a whole new feel.
The voice of Jack continues to be Phil Lamarr while, the demon Aku who was voiced by Mako Iwamatsu will witness a new voice artist.
Samurai Jack series will return to air on Adult Swim’s Toonami block sometime soon this year.
