Students can enter the VFX industry directly through Frameboxx and Prime Focus’ new tie-up
Posted in: AnimationUpcoming artists can now directly put their feet in the VFX and Animation industry. You have learnt animation, done a course but in the end you often wonder where and how to step into the industry? Well, the VFX and education fraternity in India has recently been innovating new provisions to help upcoming artists try their hands on and enter the practical field.
Frameboxx and Prime Focus, both leading VFX and Animation houses, have made a special tie-up to provide benefits to the students and enhance the employment opportunities. Both the houses have decided to curate a curriculum which will involve a three month training at Frameboxx followed by a nine month internship at Prime Focus.
Frameboxx Indore, director, Vivek Kachhvah said, “There are four different models of courses that the students can opt for. After the completion of three months training, they can be placed at Prime Focus for a nine month on job training cum internship for which a stipend will be provided.”
Prime Focus, SVP Operations, Stephen Mascarenhas informed, “The students will be trained at Prime Focus on various 3D stereo conversions, Rotoscopy, Paint, Match Moving and many other aspects. We are looking for acquiring around 500 to 600 students. This is a PAN India initiative and the students can be placed in any of our Prime Focus facilities.”
Frameboxx has designed this new curriculum in which students will get a chance to get the benefit of work experience at Prime Focus along with technical knowledge which will provide new and vast employment opportunities.
Frameboxx, CEO and MD, Naveen Gupta said, “The curriculum is open and available for any student irrespective of his/her background. It makes no difference if he/she has completed his education in science, mathematics, engineering, computer or even in the field of humanities. The fee structure varies for each course. Under the new facility of our tie-up, students will get a chance to work on live projects at Prime Focus.”
This initiative is basically with the view of bridging the gap between studios and the education system. A number of students after completing their course in animation or VFX are caught up in a dilemma due to lack of direct opportunities into the industry.
In this curriculum, the students after completion of nine months at Prime Focus may have an opportunity to be retained at Prime Focus if their performance is good or they can try their hands at other VFX studios. The added advantage lies that they will have a full fledged training in hand and also a thorough on job training experience at a renowned VFX studio like Prime Focus.
