Now, this was a big hit! Red Foley’s “Chattanoogie Shoe Shine Boy” spent 15 weeks on Billboard’s pop charts, and went all the way to #1. Even more impressive was its success on the country chart, where it was #1 for THREE MONTHS!!! Way to go, Red! No wonder it became his signature tune. Other versions by some pretty big names would chart also, including Bing and Sinatra, but Red had this one in the bag.
