Blizzard’s Overwatch has been one of the major game releases this year and the company has left no stone unturned to get players hooked to this game. From immersive background stories to spectacular animated shorts, Overwatch has managed to create a rich and diverse universe for its fan base.
Now, the first major DLC patch has been announced with various bug fixes, hero balances, gameplay changes and a brand new character.
The new character is Ana Amari, who according to the game’s story is Pharah’s (one of the characters of the game) mother, who was believed to be dead after a mission against Widowmaker (another character from the game). Ana would be a support sniper, who shoots long range darts through the biotic rifle healing allies and dealing damage to enemies over time. She is also equipped with a biotic grenade that heals allies and distorts enemy healing abilities and also a sleep dart, which knocks out enemies for a brief period of time.
Her ultimate weapon is called Nano Boost which basically makes an allied hero go berserk, increasing their damage, movement speed and resistance to incoming attacks.
She can be an interesting choice given her range to stay sustained in team fights and objectives, but without any movement abilities, positioning would be extremely crucial for Ana. You can also check out her origin story, which is pretty neat and gives the character some more ground to stand upon.
Other than this, heroes like D.Va, Zenyatta, Mercy, McRee are some heroes go went through some changes. The ‘overtime’ functions during the game has also been changed. The respawn-timer during overtime has been increased by 2 seconds and after 20 seconds of overtime, the speed of the time depletion on the overtime bar increases.
Another major change that has come, is the fact that in ranked/competitive play, same hero limit has been capped to one. So, no more hero stacking for the win.
The Public Test Realm (PTR) is live now with all the updates which you can try out now. Check Overwatch’s official website for more information.
The patch can be expected to be rolled out in the next couple of weeks.
