New trailer and poster of the live-action feature ‘The Lion King’ released by Disney
Posted in: AnimationThe first full length trailer of Disney’s live-action, The Lion King was unveiled at the 2019 Oscars.
The new trailer didn’t reveal much about the upcoming feature, but it did mirror the original 1994 animated classic. It began with a familiar scene with the sun setting and Rafiki lifting up Simba over the kingdom.
A new poster was also released along with the trailer which gives a glimpse of Mufasa.
The voice cast includes James Earl Jones, returning to his original role as Mufasa from the original film, along with Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar.
The filmmaker behind movies such as Iron Man, Elf, and Spider-Man: Homecoming, Jon Favreau is directing The Lion King. Favreau recently directed Disney’s live-action remake of The Jungle Book in 2016, which was a massive box office hit, grossing $966 million worldwide.
The live action version of The Lion King journeys to the African Savannah, where a future king must overcome tragedy and betrayal and assume his rightful place on Pride Rock.
The Lion King hits the big screen on 19 July 2019.
