MDP Jean-Paul Gaultier – Paris

The collaboration between La Monnaie de Paris and Jean-Paul Gaultier had started with the creation of 12 coins inspired by the city of Marseille. It goes on with a new collection, this time dedicated to the city of Paris. The promotional films for these collections around France are signed by Hugo Ramirez and Eddy. For this project, the director’s main inspiration was the movie Soy Cuba, which became iconic for it’s long and bold sequence-shots. Through flight-over effects, we follow the chase of Jean-Paul Gaultier’s iconic ‘Man’ and ‘Woman’, from indoor to outdoor decors and from one historical landmark to the other. Olivier Lescot, animation supervisor at Brunch Studio, succeeds in using 2D animation techniques to give a sense of complete freedom while dealing with a complex subject. The graphic universe has once again been created by the illustrator Leïla Courtillon, with the input of Jean-Paul Gaultier for the details in clothing and particularly the woman’s corset. The pop-style soundtrack was composed by musician Spock. This campaign is conceived by the agency La Chose.
