Though the year 2016 is almost halfway down the calendar, there haven’t been much of new comic launches this year except Speech Bubble Entertainment’s Taranath Tantrik – City of Sorrows – Part 4 and Holy Cow Publishing’s finale comic to their best selling series, Shaitan Issue 04 among the few. But don’t fret over it as our Indian comic publishers will be rolling out new comic books soon and AnimationXpress has got you covered.
Here are the comic launches that will be witnessed in the year 2016:
From the house of Chariot Comics we will get to read three new comic titles
1) Damned #1: The Monks of Yakya
Launch: September, Hyderabad Comic Con
2) VRICA – Wolf and Man: Compiling all the 4 years of VRICA (singles and graphic novels), with additional story, material and revamp into one single book.
Launch: November, Bengaluru Comic Con
3) Untitled Project: Adventure, fantasy, superhero – all for kids!

Last year filmmaker JS Nandhini had launched a digital Tamil graphic novel titled Sivappu Kal Mookuthi or Girl with a Red Nose Ring. After its immense success this year she will yet again bring out a new comic book, however this time it would be free.
Inspector Rishi: The story of Inspector Rishi is based on the screenplay of her second Tamil movie ‘Kolai Nokku Paarvai’ (a coined term in Tamil language meaning ‘Foresight for Murder’). The movie project began in 2013, but unfortunately got shelved after ten days of shoot, due to lack of funds. Now that it is being made as free webcomics, the audience will finally get to see it.
Launch: It will be available as free weekly webcomics in both Tamil and English languages. To be launched by June. Story: JS Nandhini

Meta Desi Comics are planning on the following releases
1) Holy Hell #3: Following on the success and insanity of the first two issues.

Meta Desi plans to complete at least two if not all three of them for a timely release within this year.
Priya’s Shakti
Priya’s Mirror: This is the next edition of “Priya’s Shakti” which is about acid attacks. Priya joins forces with a group of acid attack survivors as they fight against the demon-king, Ahankar, and his tyrannical hold on them.
Launch: 16 September at Mumbai Social Media Week.
Story: Paromita Vohra and Ram Devineni

This new edition is going to be funded by World Bank’s WEvolve Global Initiative, which is aimed at changing attitudes and behaviours that lead to gender inequities, including gender violence.
Yali Dream Creations have three tentative releases
1) The Caravan – Vengeance: The direct sequel of The Caravan, the story begins right at the point where Caravan graphic novel ended. It is a two part story.
Launch: Part 1 releasing this year in September, Bengaluru Comic Con and Part 2 in 2017
Each book will be 64 pages long.
Art: Gaurav Shrivastav and Prasad Pattnaik.
2) Rakshak: Rakshak will be a new superhero/vigilante title and is going to be an ongoing series.
Each book around 72 pages long.
Launch: December, Delhi Comic Con

3) Rakshak Part 2: The third release might be the second part of Rakshak or a new horror graphic novel which they are developing presently.
Earlier we came to know that Yali Dream Creations The Caravan that’s produced by Asvin Srivatsangam and written by Shamik Dasgupta that had released in 2013 has been picked up by one of the A listed Bollywood filmmakers to turn it into a full fledged movie.
