DC’s superhero team of Justice League Dark might get an animated release rather than a live action film. Though it has not been officially announced, the existence of the animated Justice League Dark was revealed by the British Board of Film Classification, which stated that the upcoming Batman: The Killing Joke animated home release will contain a bonus feature titled “A Sneak Peak at Justice League Dark.”
Justice League Dark was introduced as part of DC’s New 52 initiative and featured a roster comprised of John Constantine, Zatanna, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Enchantress, and Shade the Changing Man.
The progress on the creation of the live action adaptation of the same still has not been revealed so probably if this feature gets an animated release it may best come out as a direct to DVD release.
DC is working on this animated feature might indicate that either the movie, which has been in the works since 2012, has stalled completely or may even have been scrapped altogether at this point.
More details on the project will likely accompany the animated Batman: The Killing Joke, which will be released digitally ahead of a Blu-ray and DVD release in the coming months.
